Thomas Edward Lehman Wiki Biography

Thomas Edward Lehman was born on 7 March 1959, in Austin, Minnesota USA, and is a professional golfer who won the 1996 Open Championship, and is noted as winning the Player of the Year award on all three PGA Tours: the regular PGA Tour, the Web.com Tour and the Champions Tour, the only golfer to achieve this feat.

So just how loaded is Tom Lehman now? Sources state that Lehman has amassed a fortune of over $13 million, as of early 2017. The main source of his net worth has been his golf career which began in 1982.

Lehman grew up in Alexandria, Minnesota, and attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis–Saint Paul, obtaining a degree in Business/Accounting in 1977. While at college, he played golf for four years, earning All-American status in three of them.

Lehman turned pro in 1982, however, he struggled with his game for the first several years, being unable to achieve almost any success. Frustrated and miserable after losing his PGA Tour card three years in a row, he started playing mini tours in 1987, following a short period at Wood Ranch Golf Club, selling golf equipment. However, after participating in the 1987 US open, his passion for golf was born again and he started to play mini tours in South Africa and Asia, as well as around the US.

In 1991 Lehman reached the top of the Ben Hogan Tour’s money list, being named Player of the Year, which enabled him to regain his PGA Tour card. In 1994 he won the Memorial Tournament, and then the Colonial National Invitation the following year. His net worth started to grow.

In 1996, Lehman won The Open Championship (British), and also the Tour Championship, being named PGA Tour Player of the Year. This achievement shot him to fame, significantly adding to his wealth. He spent a week at Number 1 in the Official World Golf Rankings the following year, and went on to win the Phoenix Open in 2000. In addition to his five wins on the PGA Tour, Lehman has won at least nineteen professional events in total.

In 2006 he served as captain of the Ryder Cup team, which lost to Europe at the K Club in Ireland. Lehman subsequently joined the Champions Tour in 2009, making his debut at the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf in Savannah, Georgia, teaming with Bernhard Langer; his win made him the 13th Champions Tour player to win his debut tournament.

The following year he won the Senior PGA Championship. He captured another win at the Regions Traditions in 2011, topping the Champions Tour money list and being named the Champions Tour Player of the Year. He followed this up with one more Regions Traditions win in 2012, his third senior major championship. The same year he won the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. So Lehman became the only player to be given the Player of the Year award on all three PGA Tours. All contributed to his popularity in the world of golf, considerably improving his net worth.

When it comes to his personal life, Lehman has been married to Melissa since 1987. The couple has four children together, and are based in Scottsdale, Arizona.
