Michael Ray Gundy Wiki Biography

Mike Gundy was born on August 12th 1967, in Midwest City, Oklahoma USA, and is an American Football coach and former player. Besides his sports career, Gundy caught the eye of the media in 2007 for his criticism of an article focused on one of his players.

So, just how rich is Mike Gundy as of mid-2017? Authoritative sources report that Gundy’s wealth is as high as $10 million. His annual income was estimated to be about $3.75 million, until June 2017, when it was increased and now is as high as $4.2 million. His fortune is mostly accumulated from his income as a player as well as his coaching career. He has also appeared in several TV movies. Mike is the owner of a house valued at $1.8 million in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Mike Gundy attended Midwest City High School, where he was active in sports, especially for playing quarterback in the football team, and in 1986 was proclaimed Oklahoma Player of the Year. Mike was then recruited by the Oklahoma State University Cowboys, declining to sign a contract with Oklahoma Sooners. In his freshman year of college, Gundy became the starting quarterback, and eventually the University’s and Big 8 Conference’s all-time leading passer with 49 touchdowns and 7,997 yards in four seasons, including winning the 1987 Sun Bowl and Holiday Bowl in 1988, ably assisted by two future Hall of Fame running backs, Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas.

Having graduated, Gundy declined to pursue a playing career, and became an assistant coach in the Pat Jones’ staff at his alma mater, starting as the wide receiver coach in 1990, then quarterback coach in 1991 and offensive coordinator in 1994. During the 1996 season Gundy became a staff member at Baylor, alongside with Larry Fedora, whom he is said to have had a good partnership with and whom he would recruit later on, then shortly after the season had finished, Gundy moved to Maryland as quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator. In 2001 Gundy returned as offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State University, and three years later, succeeded Les Miles to become the head coach of the team. The results of the Cowboys were boosted during Mike Gundy’s second season, and the team was able to improve their offence, eventually finishing his second season with a 7-6 record, beating Alabama Crimson Tide in the Independence Bowl. As the time went on, Gundy’s team was getting more widely recognized, which eventually lead to his contract extension and many other rewards. Many sports experts agree that Gundy’s assistance was invaluable to the team, leading to numerous awards and won matches. At that specific time, Mike’s team was achieving10 wins per season on average. His contract was extended again in 2013, and after that in June 2017, proving that his skills are still up to scratch.

Off the field, Gundy stirred a lot of drama and was the center of attention for strong criticism of an article written about one of his players. Many went as far as saying that he should have been fired immediately, marking his commentary of the article as ‘’inappropriate’’.

In his personal life, Mike and his wife Kristin have three sons – Gavin, Gunnar and Gage.
