Stanley Robert Vinton, Jr. Wiki Biography
Stanley Robert Vinton, Jr. was born on the 16th April 1935, in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania USA, of part-Polish descent, and is a pop singer, known as one of the most famous love song singers of the last few decades – his greatest success came with the song “Blue Velvet” (1963). During his entire career more than 75 million copies of his music were sold so the singer owns a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Vinton has been active in the entertainment industry since 1959.
How rich is the singer? It has been calculated by authoritative sources that the outright size of Booby Vinton’s net worth is as much as $20 million, as of the data presented in early 2017. Music is the main source of Vinton’s wealth.
To begin with, Bobby Vinton’s father Stan Vinton worked as the bandleader of a local dance orchestra. so taught his son playing clarinet and founded his own big band. With the income, he financed his musical studies, during which he learned to play many other instruments, and earned a degree in Musical Composition.
In 1960, Vinton received a recording contract for his orchestra for several recordings, but they were not very successful. Eventually, he tried solo recording and among others the albums “Roses Are Red” (1962) and “Mr. Lonely” (1964), both containing quiet, languishing love songs were successful, and songs of this style became Vinton’s trademark. His title single “Roses Are Red” was released as a single, and immediately reached top position on the Billboard Hot 100 and was also a top 20 hit in England and Germany, garnering a total of over $1 million.
Vinton released one hit song after another, including in 1963 the internationally known song “Blue Velvet”. Later, the director David Lynch used the song as a film title for his classic “Blue Velvet” (1986). In 1964, Vinton wrote two other hits that were rewarded with first place on the Billboard Hot 100 – “There! I’ve Said It Again” and “Mr. Lonely” (also sung in Italian), the latter resumed as the basis for the song “Lonely” by Akon.
In the beginning of the 1970s, Bobby Vinton appeared for a change as an actor and landed two supporting roles in John Wayne films “Big Jake” and “The Train Robbers”. In 1974, the singer recorded “My Melody of Love” in a special version in which he also sang in Polish. The song became a kind of anthem among Polish-born Americans. and was usually named “the Polish prince”. From 1975 to 1978, Vinton was very successful with a music variety program on television – “The Bobby Vinton Show”. He also owned the Bobby Vinton Blue Velvet Theatre, in Branson, Missouri, which in 2002 was bought by David King, creator and producer of “Spirit of the Dance”. Annually, Vinton returns to Branson, attending to invitations to perform at the theatre.
Finally, in the personal life of the singer, he has been married to Dolly Vintula since 1962 and has five children. Their son Robbie Vinton played the role of his father in the movie “Goodfellas” (1990). Bobby and Dolly now live in Beverly Hills.
