Patricia Clarkson was born on 29th December 1959, in New Orleans, Louisiana USA, and is a Primetime Emmy Award-winning actress, Oscar, and Golden Globe nominee, perhaps best known for her roles in such movies as “ The Green Mile” (1999), “The Station Agent” (2003), “Pieces of April” (2003), and “Dogville” (2003). Clarkson’s career started in 1985.
Have you ever wondered how rich Patricia Clarkson is, as of early 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Clarkson’s net worth is as high as $3 million, earned through her successful acting career. In addition to appearing in both film and on television, Clarkson has also worked on Broadway, which improved her wealth too.
Patricia Clarkson was a daughter of Arthur, a school administrator who worked at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine, and Jackie Clarkson, a politician and councilwoman. She grew up in Louisiana with her four sisters, and went to the Louisiana State University, where she studied speech pathology. Patricia then enrolled at the Fordham University in New York City and Yale School of Drama, where she earned a Master of Fine Arts.
Clarkson debuted on television in an episode of the series “Spenser: For Hire” in 1985, while in 1987 she played in her first movie called “The Untouchables”, an Oscar-winning drama directed by Brian De Palma and starring Kevin Costner, Sean Connery, and Robert De Niro, and its popularity launched Clarkson among the stars. She continued with such movies as “The Dead Pool” (1988) alongside Clint Eastwood and Liam Neeson, and in Jud Taylor’s Primetime Emmy Award-nominated “The Old Man and the Sea” (1990), starring Anthony Quinn and Gary Cole. Her net worth was certainly well established.
In 1992, Patricia played with Brad Johnson, Kathleen Quinlan, and Tom Sizemore in John Gray’s Primetime Emmy Award-nominated “An American Story”. In the mid-90s, she had roles in “Jumanji” (1995) starring Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, and Bonnie Hunt, and in 23 episodes of the Golden Globe Award-nominated series “Murder One” (1995-1996). She ended the ‘90s with “High Art” (1998) alongside Radha Mitchell and Ally Sheedy, “Playing by Heart” (1998) starring Gillian Anderson, Ellen Burstyn, and Sean Connery, and in Frank Darabont’s Oscar-nominated “The Green Mile” (1999) with Tom Hanks, Michael Clarke, Duncan, and David Morse; the movie grossed over $280 million worldwide, and helped Clarkson to increase her net worth significantly.
In 2001, Clarkson starred alongside Jack Nicholson and Benicio Del Toro in Sean Penn’s “The Pledge”, and later had a role in “Welcome to Collinwood” (2002) with George Clooney, Sam Rockwell, and William H. Macy. From 2002 to 2005, she played Sarah O’Connor in seven episodes of the Golden Globe Award-winning series “Six Feet Under”. Patricia made most of her money in the 2000s thanks to playing in highly-rated movies such as Todd Haynes’ Oscar-nominated “Far from Heaven” (2002) starring Julianne Moore, Dennis Quaid, and Dennis Haysbert, and in “Pieces of April” (2003) with Katie Holmes and Oliver Platt. The year of 2003 was quite lucrative for her, as she appeared in “All the Real Girls” alongside Zooey Deschanel and Paul Schneider, BAFTA Award-winning “The Station Agent”, and in Lars von Trier’s “Dogville” starring Nicole Kidman, Paul Bettany, and Lauren Bacall.
She continued with “Miracle” (2004) starring Kurt Russell, George Clooney’s Oscar-nominated “Good Night, and Good Luck.” (2005), and “All the King’s Men” (2006) with Sean Penn, Jude Law, and Kate Winslet. In 2007, Clarkson played in “No Reservations” alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones and Aaron Eckhart, and in Craig Gillespie’s Oscar-nominated “Lars and the Real Girl” with Ryan Gosling, Emily Mortimer, and Paul Schneider. A year later, she had roles in “Elegy” starring Ben Kingsley and Penélope Cruz, and in Woody Allen’s Oscar-winning “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” alongside Scarlett Johansson, Javier Bardem, and Penelope Cruz. Patricia ended the 2000s with “Whatever Works” (2009) and “Cairo Time” (2009).
In 2010, Clarkson had a part in Martin Scorsese’s “Shutter Island” starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Emily Mortimer, and Mark Ruffalo, and then in Golden Globe Award-nominated comedy “Easy A” with Emma Stone. A year after, she played alongside Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake in “Friends with Benefits”, and in “One Day” with Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. Most recently, Patricia has had roles in “The Maze Runner” (2014) and “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” (2015). She is currently filming “The Bookshop” and “The Party”, which will come out later this year.
Regarding her personal life, Patricia Clarkson never married and she has no children, stating that she never wanted to marry nor to have children because she was born without that gene.

Patricia Davies Clarkson Quotes
- [on her appearance in the famous “Motherlover” music video feat. Justin Timberlake] It was just an insane moment of my life, to be a part of that video. And one that will follow me the rest of my life. And one that, you know, you realize there are people in this world that only know me from this video. Oh my God, oh my God. But I had the best time doing it.
- I’ve dated several men with motorcycles. I would like to say I’ve dated several poet laureates, but no. I’ve dated several men with fucking motorcycles. Motorcycles make me love a man more. Any guy who has a motorcycle–you want to be on the back of his motorcycle, and if your feelings were slightly ambivalent, suddenly they’re not. When you hang on, it’s just wind. And sex. And speed, And hair.
- I go where I need to go. If I need to look glamorous or spiffy or young, or battling cancer, or a drugged-out and hippie type, it hopefully will be projected in my face. That’s the beauty of acting: hopefully it comes through. It’s not about hair and makeup, a different color of hair. It’s about being malleable. I just always hope it’s going to work because you never know.
- I think most people see me as much darker, more serious and possessing a certain gravitas, when I’m really quite insane. I guess I want everyone to see my insanity. I have a far more nutty and unpredictable side.
- There were some movies I passed on early on, and some movies I didn’t get, some big studio films. But now I look back and I realize that I really came later in life to a kind of career. I was somewhat typecast as suburban “mom” type roles early on. But I’ve always had this deep voice, so I think it was tough sometimes for directors to cast me as the ingénue. Because I’d walk in and look a certain way, then open my mouth and have this…voice! So I think I sort of grew into my voice, my face, my body as I got older.
