Michael John Clarke, born on the 2nd of April 1981, is Australian cricket player who rose to fame when he became the captain of the Australian cricket team in both One Day Internationals and Tests. Hewas a right-handed middle-order batsman, a left-arm orthodox spin bowler and slip fielder. He gathered the nicknames Pup, Nemo and Clarkey.

In 2012, Clarke made a career milestone when he scored a double century at the Adelaide Oval, becoming the only Test batsman to make four double centuries in a calendar year, gaining him the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy, the Cricketer of the Year award, and the Test Cricketer of the Year for 2013. That same year, he also gained his fourth Allan Border Medal in Australian cricket, after winning it in 2005, 2009, and 2012.

In 2015, as captain of the Australian team Clarke led his men at the 2015 Cricket World Cup, taking home the trophy for the fifth time. After 2015, he decided to retire from all forms of cricket. His success in the sport certainly elevated his career and also his wealth.

Today, Clarke serves as a full-time commentator alongside Mark Nicholas, Ian Healy, Shane Warne, to name a few, and hosts Channel Nine’s Wide World of Sports coverage of cricket.
