Kim Jong-un Wiki Biography

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s supreme leader Kim Jong-Un was born on 8 January 1983 or 1984 – the precise year of his birth is not clearly known. He was declared the leader of North Korea at his father Kim Jong-Il’s state funeral on 28 December 2011. He holds the titles of ‘Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army,’ ‘Chairman of the National Defense Commission,’ ‘First Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea,’ and the ‘Chairman of the Central Military Commission.’

Are you wondering just how rich Kim Jong-Un is, as of early 2016? According to credible sources, his net worth is estimated to be over $5 billion. An American investigator released this information, saying that most of his money is banked in foreign accounts, including in countries such as Luxembourg, Switzerland, China, Singapore, Russia, Lichtenstein and Austria. He has accumulated most of his wealth as the leader of North Korea, but inherited a lot of assets from his father as well as grandfather Kim II-Sung, both of whom were also supreme leaders of North Korea. He lives a lavish and extravagant lifestyle, reportedly spending more than $700 million annually. He has a private island and luxury yachts.

Kim Jong-Un is the youngest son of Ko Yong-hui and Kim Jong-Il. When it comes to education, little information is available about where he studied and what years he was in school. However, people have claimed that they witnessed him studying abroad, specifically at the International School of Berne in Switzerland. From 2002 to 2007, he joined the Kim Il-Sung National War College, and on completion, he joined his father whenever he went for military inspections. It is believed that at that time he worked in the General Political Bureau or the Korean Worker’s Party.

In 2009, reports circulated that his father was grooming him to be his eventual successor. That same year, he was listed as one of the candidates for the Supreme People’s Assembly, and offered an opportunity to work as the chairman of National Defense Commission, which according to the country’s constitution is the highest office in the land. By mid-2009, Kim Jong-Un was given the title ‘Brilliant Comrade’, then in 2010 given the rank of four-star general, a high rank in North Korea. In 2011, his father’s position to have him take over his seat as the country’s leader appeared to solidify, as he was chosen to take over after his father died in December 2011.

Kim Jong-Un announced his plans for economic reforms for North Korea in August 2012. The measures he proposed included boosting international trade, introducing defense innovation in the civilian sector, and increasing the availability of manufactured goods. In March 2013, he threatened the US with a nuclear attack, claiming that he intended to defend the dignity and sovereignty of his nation. However, North Korea is increasingly isolated because of its belligerent attitude, and is regarded as one of the porest countries in the world, as far a quality of life for its population is concerned.

Just like his education and years of study, little is known about Kim Jong-Un’s personal life. However, various media outlets have confirmed that he is married to Ri Sol-Ju, a lady who accompanies him in major public appearances. In March 2013, Dennis Rodman, a former basketball player who visited him in North Korea, said that his wife had just given birth to Ju-ae, a girl.
