The first of the latter movies came out in 2002, and even though it received both positive and negative reviews, it inspired the creation of two sequels, namely “Transporter 2”, which grossed more than $85 million in the box office, and “Transporter 3”, which exceeded more than $108 million in the box office worldwide. “The Transporter” trilogy also resulted in the release of spin-off series in 2011 called “Transporter: The Series”, where the character of Frank Martin is played by Chris Vance.

More recently, Jason Statham has been appearing in a series of ensemble films with such actors as Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris and Arnold Schwarzenegger called “The Expendables”. With the release of the first movie in the series in 2010, “The Expendables” became a commercial success all around the world and despite the criticism for the lack of story, the films series pays off with intense action scenes, as well as humor. A famous actor, how rich is Jason Statham? According to sources, Jason Statham’s net worth is estimated to be $30 million. Most of Jason Statham’s salary and net worth comes from his acting career.

Jason Statham was born in 1967, in Derbyshire, England. Upon deciding to become a martial artist, Statham moved to Norfolk, where he began his training. As a teenager, Statham also expressed interest in football, as well as diving, which he took up in the National Diving Squad. Eventually, Statham was noticed by a talent manager, and was given an opportunity to model for “French Connection”, a global retailer of fashion clothing based in the United Kingdom.

In addition to working as a model and making appearances on various music videos, Statham was also a street seller, as he was always struggling with money. Fortunately, while modeling for “French Connection”, Jason Statham was noticed by Guy Ritchie, a British filmmaker, who offered him a role in one of his movies. In 1998, Jason Statham made his film debut in a crime comedy film called “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels”, where he starred alongside Jason Flemyng, Dexter Fletcher and Nick Moran. Two years later, in 2000, Statham made a return to the cinemas in Ritchie’s ensemble movie entitled “Snatch”, where he had an opportunity to co-star with Benicio del Toro, Brad Pitt and Vinnie Jones. Ever since then, Jason Statham has become a well-recognized face in the film industry, although in addition to acting, Jason Statham also took up voice acting, and voiced characters in such video games as “Red Faction II” and “Call of Duty”. Jason Statham Quotes

  • [2007, on filming Death Race (2008) in Canada] The whole time I was up there I never had one beer. It was four months. I was training every day. You know you do the best you can do. If I’m no good in the movie, that’s my fault. It’s not because it was eight tequila shots and a bunch of people I shouldn’t have been with.
  • [on performing in action movies] I’ve spent all those years learning how to do certain skills, and then that competitive spirit kicks in and you want to do the stunts. Basically, it’s the the male competitive ego at work.
  • You see a lot of action films, and it’s almost (like) you can’t tell who’s doing what. It’s chopped up so much, you just see a fist, a leg – it’s all driven by the sound, boom, pow, boom. You wouldn’t know what was happening otherwise. The people who inspired me growing up, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, that’s the real deal. You see them, the camera’s way back, there aren’t a lot of cuts – you feel like you’re really in there. Today, there’s so much technology and green-screen and CGI, you can turn your grandma into an action star. But people are getting wise to that, I think. There’s no substitute for the real thing.
  • Growing up where I did, you met a lot of colorful characters whose business was on the other side of the law, or more likely you didn’t know what they were up to, and you never would. So playing those kinds of characters now, I can draw on that. The rest of it, you can practice or learn from books. But mostly, I draw from my experiences. That’s all I have, you know.
  • [on preparing for action roles] I go to this gym full of stunt men. There aren’t any TVs or treadmills there. This is a spit-and-sawdust kind of place. It has a lot of great training aids – trampolines and bags and every weapon ever invented to do harm to a human being. If you want to know how to throw a knife it’s great.
  • [on being directed by Sylvester Stallone in The Expendables (2010)] He is someone that you have to respect and with that he runs a very relaxed set.
  • You ain’t ever gonna get an Academy Award for doing Crank (2006) and you certainly won’t for doing all the other movies I’ve done.
