Glen Davis “Big Baby” Wiki Biography
Ronald Glen Davis, nicknamed Big Baby, was born on 1 January 1986, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana USA, to Donald Robertson and Tonya Davis. He is a professional basketball player, best known as a power forward for the Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association(NBA).
So just how rich is Glen Davis at present? According to sources in mid-2016, Glen has accumulated a net worth of over $12 million. His wealth has been established during his basketball career which began in 2007.
Davis grew up in Baton Rouge along with his two siblings, where he attended University Laboratory High School. Upon matriculating, he enrolled in Louisiana State University, joining the school’s basketball team the LSU Tigers. While with the Tigers, Davis was named the 2006 SEC Player of the Year and to the All-SEC first team. He led the Tigers to their first Final Four appearance since 1986, averaging a league leading 18.6 points per game and a league best 9.7 rebounds per game.
Forgoing his senior season at LSU, Davis entered the 2007 NBA Draft, being selected as the 35th overall pick by the Seattle SuperSonics, but was traded to the Boston Celtics. Playing as a power point, and occasionally as a back-up center for the Celtics, Davis was in the team which won the 2008 NBA Finals in his rookie season. The following year he helped the team to defeat the Orlando Magic in the 2009 Eastern Conference Semifinals. Later that year, the Celtics re-signed him to a two-year, $6.5 million contract, which considerably added to his net worth.
During the 2010 Eastern Conference Finals against the Orlando Magic, Davis was injured by a Magic player, causing him a severe concussion. Although he recovered by the time the next games took place and participated in Celtics’ advancing to the 2010 NBA Finals, his team was defeated in seven games.
In 2011 Davis was traded to the Orlando Magic. After scoring a then career-high 31 points in a game against the Detroit Pistons in 2012 and recording a career-high 33 points, three rebounds and three assists in a game against the Philadelphia 76ers in 2013, Davis agreed to a contract buyout, and in 2014 he signed with the Los Angeles Clippers, re-signing to a one-year deal later that year. In 2015 he became an unrestricted free agent.
Davis has recently undergone ankle surgery, having his left ankle ligaments repaired and a cyst and bone spurs removed. The surgery has sidelined him for several months from basketball-related activities, but the player’s tenure in the NBA has enabled him to reach a high level of popularity among fans, and to amass considerable wealth.
When it comes to his personal life, Davis married Jenna Gomez in 2013, but two years later the couple divorced. He is currently in a relationship with Jasmin Jaye.
Aside from his remarkable basketball skills, Davis is also known for body-slamming the famed Shaquille O’Neal to the ground in a friendly wrestling match during the players’ teenage years.
