Vincent Frank Testaverde Wiki Biography

Vincent Frank Testaverde Sr. was born on 13 November 1963, in Brooklyn, New York City USA, and is a retired professional American Football player, best known to have played in the National Football League (NFL) for 21 seasons. He won the Heisman Trophy in 1986, but all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Vinny Testaverde? As of late-2016, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $10 million, mostly earned through a successful career in professional football. He’s best known for his successful run with the New York Jets, and he also played for the Baltimore Ravens, all of which ensured the position of his wealth.

Testaverde was educated at Sewanhaka High School and matriculated in 1981. He then attended Fork Union Military Academy for a year, before getting an athletic scholarship to the University of Miami, where he played with the Hurricanes football team from 1983 to 1986. During his senior year, he became a first-team All-American, and would win the Heisman Trophy. During his time in Miami, he would help the team win the 1987 Fiesta Bowl for a national championship.

Vinny joined the 1987 NFL Draft, and would be taken by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the first overall pick. He struggled during his first two seasons, and was heavily criticized by commentators and fans. He made a lot of errors, and was even taunted by NFL Players Association president Gene Upshaw. However, he started to improve and by the end of his run with the Buccaneers was already performing well. He then became an unrestricted free agent, signing with the Cleveland Browns in 1992. After just half a season, he became a starter on the team, and helped them get to the playoffs in 1994. The following year, most of the staff moved to Baltimore and played with the newly formed Baltimore Ravens. He made his first Pro Bowl appearance in 1996 thanks to his performances.

In 1998, he became part of the New York Jets, and started to show his best performances yet, making it to the Pro Bowl for a second time.

The season became one of his best in the NFL, and helped the Jets win the AFC East, but they would lose in the AFC Championship Game. The following year, they had hopes of having a Super Bowl run, but Testaverde suffered an Achilles tendon rupture that ended his season. In 2001, he would lead the Jets back to the playoffs, but they lost in the first round against the Oakland Raiders. In 2004 he signed with the Dallas Cowboys and was given the starting quarterback job despite criticisms due of his age. He was still able to perform well, but was not signed the following season.

The following year Testaverde signed with the New York Jets, and would secure an NFL record for most consecutive seasons with at least one touchdown pass. He signed with the New England Patriots in 2006 as a backup quarterback and extended his NFL record, and afterwards signed a one year contract with the team, but was eventually released. During his last season, he played with the Carolina Panthers, and would become the second oldest starting quarterback in NFL history. He then announced his retirement before the final game of the season.

For his personal life, it is known that Vinny has been married to Mitzi since 1991, and they have three children and reside in Tampa, Florida. He was previously married to Laura Gambucci(1988-89).
