Cory Spinks, born Cory Calvin, is a former professional boxer, born on 20th February 1978 in St. Louis, Missouri USA. During his professional boxing career, Spinks became a three-time, two-weight world champion, and held the undisputed welterweight title from 2003 to 2005 as well as the IBF junior middleweight title twice in the period of 2006 to 2010. Apart from this, he also challenged for the lineal middleweight title.

His first welterweight title defense was against former world champion Zab Judah in April 2004, whom he defeated, and then fought against him one more time in February the following year; this turned out to be one of the biggest events in St. Louis, as it sold more than 22 000 tickets and rapper Nelly accompanied Spinks to the ring, while leading the crowd with his singing, however, Spinks was defeated. Nevertheless, Cory’s fifth world title – the IBF Junior Middleweight Championship – came in 2006, when he fought against Roman Karmazin. He then moved up to Middleweight in May 2007, with a challenge against Jermain Taylor, who managed to hold the title of the World Middleweight Champion. A year later, Spinks lost the IBF Junior Middleweight Championship, but reclaimed the title in April 2009 in his hometown. In January 2012, Cory became the no.1 contender for Bundrage’s IBF Junior Middleweight Title.
