Jordyn Wieber was born on the 12th July 1995, in DeWitt, Michigan USA, of part-Lebanese descent, and is a retired artistic gymnast, who represented the United States at World Championships and Olympic Games, having won the gold medal in the 2012 London Summer Olympics, and two gold medals at the World Championships in Tokyo 2011. Wieber’s career started in 2006 and ended in 2015.

Jordyn Wieber is a daughter and the third of four children of Rita, an emergency room nurse and exercise physiologist, and David Wieber, a director at a health-care subsidiary. She started gymnastics at age three, but then stopped and took dance classes. However, John Geddert selected her to join his Silverstars program, while in 2005 Wieber qualified to Level 10 in the Junior Olympic program, and a year later qualified for the international elite.

In February 2009 Wieber competed at the American Cup in Chicago, Illinois and won the gold medal in the all-around competition with a score of 60.200. The next year, Jordyn helped the American team win first place at the Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships in Melbourne, Australia, and she repeated that success in Seattle in 2012, where she also won gold medals in all-around and floor exercise categories. Jordyn’s first senior appearance had been at the American Cup in Jacksonville, Florida, in 2011, where she was called to fill in for an injured fellow gymnast and won first place in the all-around category. That same year, Wieber won at the US National Championships in three different categories: all-around, uneven bars, and floor exercise.

Also in 2011, Jordyn won two gold and one bronze medal at the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, while in 2012, she finished first at the US National Championships in St Louis, and also won gold at the American Cup in New York. After the Olympics, Wieber suffered from a stress fracture in her right leg and failed to win any medal due to the condition. Jordyn signed a sponsorship deal with Adidas Gymnastics in 2013, and the following fall she enrolled at the UCLA, to study psychology and serve as a team manager of the college gymnastics team. In March 2015, Wieber announced retirement from professional gymnastics, becoming the first member of the Fierce Five to retire from elite gymnastics.
