Marcus Mariota Wiki Biography

Marcus Ardel Taulauniu Mariota was born on 30 October 1993, in Honolulu, Hawaii USA, of part-German as well as Samoan descent. Marcus is a professional American Football player, best known for being a part of the National Football League (NFL) playing as a quarterback for the Tennessee Titans. He’s been active in the sport professionally since 2015, and all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Marcus Mariota? As of early-2018, sources estimate a net worth that is at $6 million, mostly earned through a successful career in professional football. He is the first Oregon player and the first Hawaii born athlete to win the Heisman Trophy. As he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.

Growing up, Marcus admired quarterback Jeremiah Masoli who is also a Samoan. He attended Saint Louis School in Honolulu, and during his time there, he was involved in track as well as playing football. He was relatively unknown until his senior season when he became a starter, and helped the team to an 11-1 record and the state title, gaining him numerous honors. He also did well in sprinting and jumping events for the track and field team. In 2010, he attended an Oregon football camp which would lead him to be discovered by Mark Helfrich. He was then given a scholarship and became one of the top two recruitment prospects from Hawaii. Many other colleges wanted him, but only Memphis and Oregon offered scholarships.

Mariota redshirted in the 2011 season and became the first freshman to start a season opener for the Oregon Ducks, helping the team to a 12-1 record, and gaining numerous honors. He continued playing well during the next year, then suffered a partial tear of his MCL, but despite that, he continued to play, and would help the Ducks win three consecutive bowls. In 2014, he bypassed the NFL Draft and returned to college football, becoming a part of the watch lists of numerous trophies. He won the Davey O’Brien Award for the nation’s best quarterback, and Maxwell Award and the Walter Camp Award. This would then lead him to become a winner of the Heisman Trophy, garnering 88% of first place votes. He would help the Ducks to another state victory, and he would then join the 2015 NFL Draft.

Marcus was selected as the second overall pick in the draft by the Tennessee Titans. He had the bestselling NFL jersey in the league and was signed to a high level contract which established his net worth significantly. He became the first and youngest quarterback to attain a perfect passer rating in NFL history in his first career start. He continued to play well throughout the year, and he became the first quarterback in franchise history to catch a touchdown reception. In 2016, Marcus improved his offense even further, but had a fracture to his fibula which ruled him out of the final game of the season. He returned in 2017 and performed well until a hamstring injury, but recovered quickly and helped the team get a spot in the playoffs. The team would beat the Kansas City Chiefs, during which he would become just the second player in NFL history to catch his own pass for a touchdown. Their season then ended after being defeated by the New England Patriots.

For his personal life, not much is known about Mariota’s romantic relationships, except that he apparently has a girlfriend named Kiyomi Cook. He has mentioned in interviews that he is a dedicated Christian.
