Clifford Ralph “Cliff” Robinson Wiki Biography

Clifford Ralph “Cliff” Robinson is a retired professional basketball player, born on 16th December 1966 in Buffalo, New York State, USA. Throughout his career, he played for five teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Have you ever wondered how rich Cliff Robinson is? According to sources, it has been estimated that Cliff Robinson’s overall net worth is over $20 million, as of July 2017, accumulated through an extraordinarily successful career in professional basketball, which he started in the late ‘80s, having achieved excellent results and received numerous acknowledgements during his career.

Cliff’s early education details are lacking – his known basketball career started at the University of Connecticut, where he was a highly decorated player. After the University’s team won the NIT Championship in 1988, he was named to the all-tournament team, and then to UConn’s All-Century men’s basketball team.

The following year, Cliff was drafted in the second round of the 1989 NBA draft by the Portland Trail Blazers, a team he stayed in for eight seasons, leading the team to the NBA Finals twice – in 1990 and 1992. After scoring above-average results, he earned the 1992-93 Sixth Man of the Year Award, and entered the All-Star team in 1994. At the Western Conference Finals in a game against the Utah Jazz, Robinson embarked a “victory dance” he later called the “Uncle Cliffy”, which became his nickname from that time on. He was one of the few players who held the 461 iron man streak of consecutive games played but had to end it after a game against the Golden State Warriors in February 1995, but it’s is still a record streak for the Trail Blazers team. His net worth benefited significantly.

Two years later, Cliff signed with the Phoenix Suns as a free agent, remaining for the next four seasons, during which he scored a career-best 50 points in January 2000, and became the oldest player to register this score – he was 33 at the time. In June 2001 he was traded to the Detroit Pistons, two years later to the Golden State Warriors, and in February 2005 to the New Jersey Nets where he stayed for the following two seasons before retirement. His net worth rose steadily.

Cliff’s career retrospective shows 1380 games – the 8th most of all time in the NBA – and the tallest player to score more than one thousand 3-pointers until Dirk Nowitzki broke his record. After officially retiring, with Dennis Rodman’s “basketball diplomacy” in North Korea, Robinson was named a member of a team he assembled, alongside players Vin Baker, Doug Christie, Sleepy Floyd, Kenny Anderson and others.

Apart from his sports career, Cliff also took part in the “Survivor” reality TV series in 2014.

When it comes to his private life, Robinson married Heather Lufkins in September 2003 and the two have a son who now plays basketball for the Jefferson High School Democrats. Cliff advocates for reforming the cannabis policy, and is planning to enter the legal cannabis market in Oregon as “Uncle Spliffy”.
