Carl Crawford Wiki Biography
Carl Demonte Crawford was born on the 5th August 1981, in Houston, Texas USA. The world knows him because of his successful career as a baseball player, which has become the main source of his net worth. His career has been active since 1999 when he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, however he has switched several teams over the years and currently he is a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Have you ever wondered how rich Carl Crawford is? According to sources, it is estimated that Carl Crawford`s overall net worth is $45 million, an amount earned through his successful career as a baseball player.
Crawford spent his childhood in the Fifth Ward area of Houston. Since his early days he began practicing baseball as he was a part of the “Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities” program. For a short time he played with Michael Bourn in the same little league team. While attending Jefferson Davis High School, he continued to develop his baseball skills and also extended his talents to football and basketball.
His professional career as a baseball player began in 1999 when he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He spent three years in the minor league, until he won the Rookie of the Year award while playing with the Durham Bulls in the AAA league.
Due to his success, he was transferred back to the Tampa Devil Rays and made his major league debut on the 2oth July 2002 against the Toronto Blue Jays. In 2004 he was named the MVP of the Devil Rays team, and was selected for the All Star game. In the next few years which he spent with Tampa Devil Rays, he became one of their greatest players in history. In 2007 he was once again selected for the All Star game what made him the only Tampa Devil Ray player to participate more than once in that game. Furthermore to his success with the team, in 2010 he won the Golden Glove award, and Silver Slugger award with a record 110 runs scored, earning him the nickname of ‘The Perfect Storm’.
All this success increased his overall net worth and enabled him to sign a contract with the Boston Red Sox worth $142 million for sevn years. However, his career went into a slump, while he played for the team, as he suffered several injuries that rendered him unable to play. Partly as a result of these injuries, in 2012 he was traded to Los Angeles Dodgers alongside Josh Beckett, Nick Punto, Adrian Gonzales and the amount of $11 million in cash. Primarily, he was concerned for his form and his career on the whole, however, as of the 2013 season, he continued where he left off before signing with the Boston Red Sox.
In addition to his club career and associated net worth, Crawford has also been selected as a member of the USA baseball team, participating in the Baseball World Cup in 2001, where the team won the silver medal.
Overall, his career has been rather successful; other than the already mentioned awards, he has been the American League Stolen Base Champion four times, and won the Fielding Bible Award three times. He has participated in the All Star game four times, and in 2009 he was named the MVP. Furthermore, he was named Rays` Face of the Franchise by ESPN, which also benefited his net worth.
To talk about his personal life, Crawford has been engaged to Evelyn Lozada since 2013 with whom he has a son, and has also fathered two children in a previous relationship.
