Luis Gonzalez Wiki Biography

Luis Emilio Gonzalez was born on the 3rd September 1967, in Tampa, Florida USA, and is a former baseball player who is most famous for being an outfielder of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Arizona Diamondbacks, with which he won the 2001 World Series Championship.

Have you ever wondered how much wealth this retired athlete has accumulated so far? How rich Luis Gonzalez is? According to sources, it is estimated that the total of Luis Gonzalez’s net worth, as of mid-2017, exceeds the sum of $40 million, acquired largely through his professional baseball career which was active between 1990 and 2008.

Gonzalez attended Thomas Jefferson High School from which he matriculated in 1985, and then enrolled at the University of Southern Alabama. During his college baseball career, Luis was rewarded with All-Freshman Second Team honors, given by Baseball America sports magazine. In the 1988 amateur draft, he was picked by the Houston Astros, but he continued to play in the American Legion Baseball for two more years before transferring to Houston.

Gonzalez’s professional baseball career officially began in 1990, when he debuted for the Houston Astros in September that year. In 1991 he became a regular in the team’s rooster, batting an average of .254, and scoring 13 home runs. These ventures provided the basis for Luis Gonzalez’s net worth.

After the 1995 season, Luis transferred to the Chicago Cubs, with which he stayed for only one season, averaging .271 at bat, and scoring 15 home runs, before returning to the Astros for the 1997 season. In 1998, Gonzalez signed with Detroit Tigers, while in 1999 he joined the Arizona Diamondbacks. With his good performances, Luis immediately improved the Diamondbacks’ plays, averaging .336 and leading them to the National League’s Western Division play-off series. Later in the season he was picked for the All-Star team. It is certain that these achievements helped Luis Gonzalez to set his career on an uprising path as well as to add a significant amount of money to his net worth.

In 2001, Gonzalez scored 57 home runs, setting his career-high and also setting the record for a left-handed batter with the third most hits in the history of the league, leading his team to World Series finale in which he played a crucial part in winning over the New York Yankees, earning the Diamondbacks their first, and so far their only World Series title in the franchise’s history. Unsurprisingly he was selected again for the All-Star team. Doubtlessly, the latter accomplishment helped to dramatically increase the total of Luis Gonzalez’s net worth.

Prior to leaving Arizona at the end of the 2006 season, Gonzalez played in three more All-Star games, so five in total. In 2007, he joined Los Angeles Dodgers, signing one-year $7 million-worth contract, while in 2008 he transferred to the Florida Marlins for $2 million. After playing 136 games for the Marlins in 2008 season, in August 2009 Gonzalez retired from playing professional baseball, and focused on office work – he began serving as Arizona Diamondbacks’ President’s special assistant. In 2010, the franchise retired his No. 20 Jersey. All these involvements have helped Luis Gonzalez to massively increase his revenues.

Apart from the world of baseball, Gonzalez has also put some efforts towards business – he was operating a restaurant and is also a co-founder of Is Talking LLC, a social networking web sites developing company. He serves as the Baseball Assistance Team’s board member, and in 2011 he was honored with an induction into the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum.

When it comes to his personal life, Gonzales has been married since 1994 to Christine Lehmann with whom he has triplets, two daughters and one son – Jacob, who followed his father’s footsteps and was drafted as pick No. 58 in the second round of 2017 MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants.
