Dion Waiters Wiki Biography
Dion Waiters was born on 10 December 1991, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA, and is a professional basketball player, best known to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as part of the Miami Heat. He also played college basketball for Syracuse, and all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Dion Waiters? As of early-2017, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $2 million, mostly earned through a successful career in professional basketball. As he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.
Dion was mainly raised by his mother since his father was in jail. He grew up playing a lot of basketball while attending Bartram High School, and later South Philadelphia High School but interestingly did not play basketball there. He then went to South Kent School before playing basketball at Life Center Academy during his junior and senior years, and began drawing attention from colleges.
Waiters attended Syracuse and performed well during his first season. During his sophomore year he was named as the Big East Sixth Man of the Year, and he also earned third team All Big East honors and was selected for the All Big East Tournament team. Afterwards, he joined the 2012 NBA draft and was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers despite not working out for any teams prior to the draft.
In 2013, he started performing well and became part of the Rising Stars Challenge. He rotated as a starter and as a bench player during his time with Cavaliers, however, he had a sprained ankle and knee injury which caused him to miss 21 games, but still placed fifth in the NBA Rookie of the Year voting. The following year, he became part of the Rising Stars challenge once again, and scored his first double-double. His net worth was starting to increase at this point.
In 2015, he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in a three team trade that involved players such as JR Smith and Iman Shumpert. He had a poor debut with the Thunder, but would eventually regain his form, although in the 2015-16 season, he was mostly on the bench and only started two games. After Andre Roberson sustained an injury, he was moved to the starting role and would perform well in the Thunder’s playoff run. He became an unrestricted free agent after the end of the season, and signed with the Miami Heat, where he would become a starter for the team. His net worth increased even further thanks to the contract. He performed well but then missed two weeks after he suffered a Pectineus tear; he missed a total of 20 games and then helped the Heat to a seven-game winning streak, but missed the final 13 games of the season due to an ankle injury.
For his personal life, nothing is currently public concerning relationships. It is known that his grandmother died a few hours after he was born. He is also the cousin of former Syracuse guard Scoop Jardine.
