How rich is Zach Thomas? As of early-2017, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $10.4 million, mostly earned through success in professional football. As he continues his other endeavors, it is expected that his wealth will continue to increase.
Zach attended White Deer Schools where he would help the team to a 16-0 record during his freshman year. He would later transfer to Pampa High School, and during his time there, he became well-known for his skills in football which earned him first-team all-state selection. After matriculating, Thomas attended Texas Tech University and would become a starter for the Texas Tech Red Raiders for three years. During his senior year, he would earn the Southwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year award, and was a finalist for the Butkus Award. He was named as a unanimous first-team All-American, and earned numerous other awards and honors.
Thomas then joined the 1996 NFL Draft, and was selected during the fifth round by the Miami Dolphins. He was given a three year deal worth $577,000 which started increasing his net worth significantly. During his first season he became an All-Rookie selection and a Pro Bowl alternate. Two years later he would make All-Pro, and would help the Dolphins defense significantly. In 1999, he was given a five-year $22.5 million contract which helped his net worth jump up, as he became the Dolphins’ highest paid player; he would gain four All-Pro honors in five seasons. In 2003, he was given another extension worth $33.75 million which had a $10.5 million signing bonus – this year led to his fifth All-Pro selection. Even through injuries, he led the Dolphins in tackles and became one of three players to record 100 or more tackles during each of his first 10 seasons in the NFL. He made his seventh Pro Bowl appearance in 2006, tying the Miami record. His run with the team ended in 2008 when it was announced that he no longer fitted into the team’s long term plans.
Zach signed a one year deal with the Dallas Cowboys in 2008 and would become an unrestricted free agent the following year. He then signed with the Kansas City Chiefs but was released at the end of the preseason. He signed a one day ceremonial contract with the Miami Dolphins in 2010, so he could retire as a member of the team.
For his personal life, it is known that Zach has been married to Maritza Thomas since 2006.
