Nick Collison Wiki Biography

Nicholas John “Nick” Collison is a professional basketball player born on 26th October 1980 in Orange City, Iowa, USA. He plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder of the National Basketball Association (NBA). During his career, he has been the NABC Player of the Year and Big 12 Player of the Year, both in 2003.

Have you ever wondered how rich Nick Collison is? According to sources, it has been estimated that Nick Collison’s net worth is over $20 million as of early 2017, accumulated largely through a lucrative sports career, which he started in 2003. His style of play and talent has earned him several awards and acknowledgements which have added to his net worth. Since he is still active in sports, his net worth continues to grow.

Although born in Orange City, Nick grew up in Fort Dodge and Iowa Falls where he went to Iowa Falls High School, and was a McDonald’s All-American in 1999. He rose to attention when he teamed up with Kirk Hinrich and formed one of the best duos in college basketball. Nick played a big role when Kansas University Jayhawks reached two consecutive Final Fours in 2002 and 2003, and he became the leading scorer in the history of the Big 12 Conference. At the 2002 FIBA World Championship, Collison played for the United States national team, and then led them to winning a gold medal at the 2003 FIBA Americans Championship in San Juan. It was in this period that he was declared Player of the Year two years in a row, Big 12 Player of the Year, and consensus first-team All-America.

In the 2003 NBA draft, Collison was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics, however, he was forced to miss the first season due to his injured shoulders. He made his NBA debut in November 2004, and finished his rookie season having played in all 82 games, continuing for another three seasons before the franchise was relocated to Oklahoma City and rebranded as the Thunder. Due to his supreme playing style, Nick helped the Thunder reach the 2012 NBA Finals. Three years later, in February 2015, he signed a two-year contract extension with the Thunder and is now the only player in the team from the Seattle SuperSonics era. So far, Collison has appeared in almost 900 regular season games, and over 90 play-off games during his career, all helping boost his potential net worth.

Nick also led his team to the finals of the FIBA U19 World Championship in Lisbon, when the team won a silver medal in 1999.

When it comes to his private life, Nick has been married to Robbie Hanniford since 2007, and the couple has a daughter. Collison and his family continue to base themselves in Seattle.
