Tyler Ulis Wiki Biography
Tyler Ulis was born on the 5th January 1996, in Southfield, Michigan USA, and is a professional basketball player, who currently plays for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball League (NBA), as a point guard, after being selected by the franchise in the 2016 NBA Draft.
Have you ever wondered how rich Tyler Ulis is, as of early 2018? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Ulis’ net worth is as high as $1.5 million, an amount earned through his rather short career, active only since 2016.
Tyler’s childhood wasn’t one from the books; his parents were separated and he grew up in Lima, Ohio with his mother and younger brother, and later moved to Matteson, Illinois. There, he went to Marian Catholic High School for which he played basketball, however, he was fairly small with 1.60m until his senior year when he grew to 1.73m, and was chosen for the McDonald’s All-American game, but was still overlooked by the major basketball universities, however, thanks to his major game improvements, Tyler was recruited by Kentucky and spent his college years playing for the Wildcats.
He spent two years at Kentucky, scoring 815 points in 72 games, which earned him several prestigious awards and honors, including the Bob Cousy Award in 2016, and he was also named SEC Tournament MVP, then SEC Player of the Year, and SEC Defensive Player of the Year, while he met the requirements needed to be selected for the first team All-American.
After two successful seasons, Tyler decided to enter the 2016 NBA Draft Combine, at which he was one of the shortest players, next to Kay Felder, and the lightest in the draft history with only 150 pounds, less than 70kgs. His draft number was highly affected by his physical shortcomings, and he eventually ended up as the 34th pick, drafted by the Phoenix Suns.
He signed his rookie-scale contract on the 7th July worth $4 million over four years and immediately became a part of the Phoenix Suns Summer League team, playing in six games during the Las Vegas Summer League tournament, in which he averaged 14.5 points and 6.3 assists per game, which earned him a spot in the All-NBA Summer League Second Team.
He made his competitive debut for the Suns against the Sacramento Kings, spending 13 minutes on the court, and during that time scored two points, had an assist, a rebound and even one blocked the shot. Over the next several matches his playing time increased, and he gradually improved his game statistics, reaching a career-high in points with 34 against the Houston Rockets, and 13 assists against the Los Angeles Clippers. After the injury of Eric Bledsoe and later a trade, Ulis became a starting point guard for the struggling Suns, and as the season was nearing its end, he built up his average to 7.3 points, 3.7 assists and 1.6 rebounds per game. He also managed to improve his career-high in game points, by scoring 45 against the Brooklyn Nets on the 23rd March 2017.
Before the start of 2017-2018 season, Tyler underwent ankle surgery performed by Dr. Martin O’Malley at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, which caused him to miss the NBA Summer League, but he managed to recover for the start of the regular season. His first start was against the Minnesota Timberwolves on the 11th November. Though he went 1-5 from the field, his team won and he had five assists with two steals and three rebounds. So far, Tyler has worn the Suns jersey 58 times in the 2017-2018 season, and is averaging 6.7 points and 4.0 assists per game.
When it comes to his personal life, Tyler tends to keep his most intimate details hidden from the public eyes, therefore no reliable information is made available about this young rising NBA star, except that he is still single.
