Tracy McGrady Wiki Biography

Tracy Lamar McGrady was born on 24 May 1979 in Bartow, Florida USA, and is best known as a (now retired) professional basketball player with several teams in the American NBA.

So just how rich is Tracy McGrady? Sources estimate that Tracy has a net worth of $75 million, practically all of his wealth coming from his career as a professional basketball player. His annual salary used to be $23 million and he had a seven year contract for $93 million. Most of this he earned playing for Toronto Raptors and Houston All Stars, since he spent a total of seven years playing for these teams.

Tracy McGrady attended Auburndale High School in Florida, where he played in the high school basketball team. Later the family moved to Durham, North Carolina where he went to Mount Zion Christian Academy. His basketball skill was noticed in the Adidas ABCD Camp, an annual competition for high school players from all over the U.S. He was recognized by USA Today as the High School Player of the Year. Right after Tracy finished high school, he went to play in the NBA.

Tracy‘s career as a professional began with the Toronto Raptors, who chose him for the 9th pick in the 1997 NBA Draft. He played little in his first two years, but then Tracy played a lot more under new coach, Butch Carter, including with his cousin Vince Carter, with whom he formed a strong partnership. While they were playing, Toronto Raptors reached their first ever playoffs. However, in 2000 McGrady signed a $67.5 million contract for six years with the Orlando Magic. After finishing the contract, actually in 2004, he was picked up by various other basketball teams such as the Houston Rockets from 2004 to 2010, the New York Knicks in 2010, Detroit Pistons from 2010 to 2011, Atlanta Hawks from 2011 to 2012, San Antonio Spurs in 2013 and Quingdao Eagles from 2012 to 2013, which is a Chinese Basketball Association team. All these contracts were worth at least $20 million annually and significantly increased Tracy‘s net worth.

Throughout his 16-year professional basketball career, Tracy McGrady accomplished a lot. His most notable achievements are that he scored over 60 points in one game – only the 4th player to do so in 12 years – became an NBA All-Star seven times, the NBA Scoring Champion twice, and winning the NBA‘s Most Improved Player Award. In 2006 Tracy became the 3rd youngest player to score 14,000 points and 4,000 rebounds in history, and was featured in the SLAM Magazine‘s list of Top 75 Players Of All Time in 75th spot. Tracy retired from the NBA in 2013.

In his private life, Tracy McGrady married CleRanda Harris in 2006, having dated her for 10 years, and they have four children together. After retiring from basketball, Tracy decided to put more of his focus into BLUE04, a bottled water company, and technology company Dasdak, both of which he owns. In 2014, he also took a shot at baseball, and partly owns a Minor League Baseball team.
