Thomas Feely Wiki Biography
Born Thomas James Feely on the 23rd May 1976 in Odessa, Florida USA, he is a former professional American Football player, who played kicker in both the Arena Football League, and the National Football League (NFL) for the Atlanta Falcons (2001–2004) and Arizona Cardinals (2010–2013), among others. Feely’s career started in 1999 and ended in 2014.
Have you ever wondered how rich Jay Feely is, as of mid- 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Feely’s net worth is as high as $6 million, an amount earned through his successful career as a professional American football player. In addition to playing in the NFL, Feely also spent two years in the AFL, which improved his wealth too.
Jay Feely grew up in Florida, where he went to the Jesuit High School in Tampa, and alongside American Football, he also played soccer for the Temple Terrace Spirit, winning the National Championships in 1992. From 1995-98, Feely starred at the University of Michigan, ending his college career with 20-for-26 field goals and 43-for-44 in extra points.
Jay was undrafted in the 1999 NFL Draft, so he decided to join the Florida Bobcats of the Arena Football League and later moved to the Tampa Bay Storm in 2000. In March 2001, Feely had a workout with the Washington Redskins but they didn’t offer him a contract, however, the following month, Jay signed a one-year, $209,000 deal with the Atlanta Falcons, and recorded 29 field goals out of 37 attempts, and also scored 28 of 28 extra points. In the next season, Feely was the NFL field goals made leader, with 32 conversions, but his number significantly dropped in the following two years.
He became an unrestricted free agent in 2005, and the New York Giants bought him on a three-year contract worth over $1.6 million. That was Feely’s best season of his career, as he managed to make 35 field goals out of 42 shots, and also made all of his 43 extra point attempts, which resulted in his only invitation to the Pro Bowl. Jay stayed with the Giants for one more campaign before joined the Miami Dolphins on a three-year, $5 million contract. Although he had an excellent year, missing only two out of 23 field goal attempts, the Dolphins Vice President Bill Parcells decided to cut ties with Feely, so he signed a deal with the New York Jets in September 2008.
Feely had a couple of productive seasons with the Jets, recording 54 field goals in 64 shots, and 71 extra points made without a single miss. In 2010, Jay moved to the Arizona Cardinals, and in October 2012 against the Buffalo Bills, he set a personal record after scoring a 61-yard field goal. The 2013 campaign was quite successful as he was accurate on 30 out of 36 field goal attempts, but the Cardinals decided to release him in August 2014. However, following the Chicago Bears starting kicker Robbie Gould’s injury, they brought Feely, and he appeared in four games for them, making three out of four field goals, before retiring at the end of the season.
Since retiring, Feely is now a color analyst covering college football for the CBS Sports Network.
Regarding his personal life, Jay Feely is married to Rebecca, has four children with her, and they currently live in Arizona.
