Stevie Wonder Wiki Biography
Steveland Hardaway Morris, to the public known as Stevie Wonder, is a famous American singer, musician, drummer, record producer, composer, as well as a pianist. Due to a medical condition called “retinopathy of prematurity”, Stevie Wonder has been blind for the larger part of his life, yet it did not prevent him from becoming one of the most loved and influential musicians in the world. Stevie Wonder entered the music scene in 1962 with the release of his first studio album entitled “The Jazz Soul of Little Stevie”, which was immediately followed by “Tribute to Uncle Ray”. Unfortunately, the albums did not generate a lot of commercial success, since Wonder’s label struggled to find a style that would fit him.
Stevie Wonder’s major career breakthrough came in 1980 with the release of his nineteenth studio album called “Hotter than July”. In addition to being nominated for the American Music Awards, the album peaked at #2 on the charts and became Wonder’s first album to achieve the Platinum certification. During his lengthy singing career, Stevie Wonder has released 23 studio albums, 4 live albums and produced 98 singles. Some of Steve Wonder’s best known songs are “Superstition”, which is considered to be among the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, “I Just Called to Say I Love You”, which received three Grammy nominations and won a Golden Globe Award, as well as “You Are the Sunshine of My Life”, which won him a Grammy Award.
A famous and talented musician, how rich is Stevie Wonder? In 1976, Wonder signed a $13 million record deal with Motown Records, which made significant contributions to his wealth. According to sources, Stevie Wonder’s net worth is estimated to be $110 million. With his earnings, Stevie Wonder has been able to purchase valuable assets, including his house in Los Feliz, the worth of which is $2.4 million.
Stevie Wonder was born in 1950, in Michigan, US. Wonder’s interest in music stems from early childhood, when he first learned how to play various musical instruments, such as piano, drums and harmonica. When he was 11 years old, Stevie Wonder had already signed a contract with Motown. Since then, Stevie Wonder had been working hard in the studio, and has kept coming out with songs and albums. After he finally achieved commercial success in the 1980s and released his famous “I Just Called to Say I Love You” song, Stevie Wonder began to be featured more in the media and appeared on “Saturday Night Live” and other television shows.
Around the same time Wonder started making collaborations with other artists, including Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand, Paul McCartney, and Melle Mel to name a few. An inductee into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame and a recipient of 22 Grammy Awards, as well as Lifetime Achievement Award, Stevie Wonder is a truly legendary musician, whose contributions to the music industry are of great importance.
During his career, Stevie Wonder has managed to accumulate a net worth of $110 million.
