Seth Godin was born on the 10th July 1960, in Mount Vernon, New York City USA, and is a business executive, author and entrepreneur, probably best known to the world as a founder of the internet-based direct marketing company Yoyodyne in 1995, among many other differing accomplishments.

Seth grew up in his hometown and after high school enrolled at Tufts University, from which he earned degrees in computer science and philosophy. He then commenced his post-graduate studies at Stanford University, from which he obtained a Master of Business Administration.
Before venturing on his own, Seth was like most of the world, working for a corporation; precisely, he was a part of the Spinnaker, but after he grew tired of working for others, he used his savings – which amounted to just $20,000 – to found his own company, Seth Godin Productions, which ran as a book packaging business.
However, after meeting Mark Hurst, he started Yoyodyne, which is used for promoting the concept of permission marketing. The company opened in 1995, and after several years of successful operation, Seth sold the company to Yahoo!, and as a part of the deal, Seth was named Yahoo’s vice president of direct marketing, which significantly increased his net worth.
His next venture was the revenue-sharing article-writing site Squidoo, founded in 2006. On the site, users could post their own articles, which Seth cold lenses, and by October 2010, the site had more than 1.5 million lenses. However, in 2014, Seth sold the site to HubPages, feeling that the website was no longer profitable.
Aside from business ventures, Seth is also an accomplished author; his first book was published in 1993, entitled “The Smile Dictionary”, and so far has written 22 books, some of which became bestsellers and highly respected publications. The 2003 “Purple Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable” sold more than 150,000 in the first two years, while “The Dip: A Little Book That Teaches You When to Quit (and When to Stick)”, became a New York Times bestseller, which helped add a considerable amount to Godin’s net worth. Furthermore, his book “Linchpin: Are You Indispensable” (2010), was named on Business Week’s list of “20 of the best books by the most influential thinkers in business”, and he also created a children series comprised of 10 books “Worlds of Power”, which were published in the early ‘90s. Thanks to the success of these books, his net worth also benefited.
Regarding his personal life, Seth has been married to Helene since 1986, and they have two sons. The Godin family resides in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York USA.
