Sebastian Telfair was born on 9 June 1985, in Brooklyn, New York City USA and is a professional basketball player, best known as playing for the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) team, the Xinjiang Flying Tigers. He previously played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with various teams such as the Portland Trail Blazers. All of his endeavors have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

Telfair attended Abraham Lincoln High School, and during his time there became one of the top prospects for college basketball. Sebastian was the 13th overall pick during the 2004 NBA draft, selected by the Portland Trail Blazers. Just after a month of playing with the team, he became part of the starting lineup but had difficulties adjusting to the game, contributing little, however, after a very poor record in the season, the team decided to change their head coach, and Telfair’s statistics started to improve a little. However, because he wasn’t living up to expectations, he constantly received pressure from fans and the media – he suffered a thumb injury and missed 12 games. After returning, he would become the backup point guard for Steve Blake, but in June 2006, he was traded to the Boston Celtics, however, after one season he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He had his best season in the NBA during this time, having an average of 5.9 assists and 9.3 points per game. He was given a three-year contract with the Timberwolves, but was then traded in 2009 to the Los Angeles Clippers. In 2010, he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, but was traded back to the Timberwolves a few months later. During the lockout season of 2011, Telfair signed with the Phoenix Suns making impressive statistics as compared to his previous performances, but after he was traded to the Toronto Raptors in 2013, he became a free agent.
With no prospects in the NBA to pick him up, he signed with the Tianjin Ronggang of the CBA, playing there for a year before returning to the NBA to play for the Oklahoma City Thunder. After four months, he was waived and then he became part of the Xinjiang Flying Tigers during the 2014 to 2015 season.
Due to his popularity during high school, he became the subject of the book “The Jump: Sebastian Telfair and the High-Stakes Business of High School Ball”. He was also in the documentary entitled “Through the Fire” which was about his final year in high school.
For his personal life, he is married to Samantha Rodriguez. It is known that Telfair has had a few run-ins with the law; in 2006, he reported that a chain worth $50,000 was stolen from him but he was unable to identify any of the suspects. In 2007, he was arrested on a felony, possession of a weapon which was discovered after police had searched his vehicle. The following year, he pleaded guilty to possession of a weapon and was given three years probation.
