Robin Charles Thicke Wiki Biography
Robin Charles Thicke, known simply as Robin Thicke, is a famous American record producer, singer and songwriter, as well as an actor. To the public, Robin Thicke is perhaps best known for his controversial, yet commercially successful single called “Blurred Line”, which was released in 2013. Upon its release, the song peaked at #1 on the Billboard charts, in addition to topping charts in such countries as Australia, Ireland, Spain and France to name a few. In a span of 22 weeks, “Blurred Lines” succeeded at selling more than five million copies in the United States alone. Up to date, the song has sold over 14.8 million copies worldwide, which places it among the best-selling singles of all time. In the United States, it received a six-time Platinum certification from the RIAA. Nevertheless, “Blurred Lines” was met with a lot of criticism for promoting a supposed unhealthy approach towards sexual consent, and defending rape culture. The song was banned in numerous institutions, and inspired the release of a variety of parodies, the most notable being a feminist parody called “Defined Lines”, “Word Crimes” performed by Weird Al Yankovic, and “Blurred Bynes” by “DWV”.
A well-known record producer and singer, how rich is Robin Thicke? According to sources, Robin Thicke’s net worth is estimated to be $18 million, most of which he has accumulated due to his involvement in the music industry.
Robin Thicke was born in 1977, in California, United States, to a family of actors and singers. His mother, Gloria Loring was a cast member on “The Days of Our Lives”, while his father Alan Thicke was one of the main stars on Neal Marlens’ sitcom called “Growing Pains”. Even though his father wished for Thicke to graduate from high school first, Robin Thicke decided to pursue a music career instead, and soon recorded a demo album with his group “As One”. The demo was eventually heard by the record producer and singer Brian McKnight, who offered him an opportunity to sign with “Interscope Records”. Initially, Thicke focused on his songwriting skills, and wrote lyrics for many well-known artists. He wrote a song entitled “When You Put Your Hands on Me” for Christina Aguilera, “Fall Again”, which was supposed to be performed by Michael Jackson, and “No Tears for My Pillow” for Mya. Thicke debuted as a solo singer in 2002 with the release of “When I Get You Alone” single, which was featured in such films as “Agent Cody Banks” and “The Rules of Attraction” with Jessica Biel, Ian Somerhalder and James van der Beek. A year later, in 2003, he re-released his debut album under the name of “A Beautiful World”, which received a moderate amount of success. However, it wasn’t until “Blurred Line” that Thick has become a well-recognized face in the industry.
In regards to his personal life, Robin Thicke has been married to Paula Patton since 2005, and they have a child together. However, Thicke and Patton split up in 2014, when Patton filed for a divorce.

Robin Charles Thicke Quotes
- [on Paula Patton] She’s the best girl in the world, a great mother, and still a good friend. I want to wish her well and let her know that she’s a great person and she deserves to have a good life… She was my rock… Everything we have right now, we built together.
- [on his separation from Paula Patton] I try to keep most of that private, but, I haven’t seen her for four months. If you’ve been together that long, you kinda became adults together instead of being adults and then meeting. But maybe a year or two off, we’ll become our own people without each other and then it will be meant to be.
- I knew exactly what I had,” Thicke said. “It’s not that simple. After 20 years… it didn’t work for 20 years because it wasn’t right-it was right. Sometimes people grow apart. You didn’t build love in a day and you don’t lose it in a day.” [On his separation from Paula Patton]: [Cheating] is not why we’re apart. We’re apart because we just couldn’t be together anymore for a while. There’s a hundred different reasons, there isn’t just one. There’s a long list… I changed, and I got a little too selfish, a little too greedy, and little too full of myself.
- [on his album 2014 “Paula,” which was written about Paula Patton after their separation] The album is exactly what happens when you lose the love of your life and you’re trying to figure it out in your head. How am I going to move on and get through it all? We just weren’t happy together anymore and I still had so much I wanted to apologize for, and things I wanted to take responsibility for, so that’s pretty much what the album’s about.
- [on what he likes to do with his wife] I like to take her out to a fancy, six-course meal that lasts three hours and stare into her eyes. Of course it’s a little schmaltzy. There’s nothing women love more than an effort.
- Art is supposed to make us talk about what’s going on in the world and where we are as men and women, and all those kinds of things. I don’t mind having that conversation.
- [on ‘Blurred Lines’] We tried to do everything that was taboo. Bestiality, drug injections, and everything that is completely derogatory towards women. Because all three of us are happily married with children, we were like ‘We’re the perfect guys to make fun of this’.
- I don’t like labels, but I do have blue eyes and I’m soulful, so what am I going to do?
- I think people that compare us aren’t listening closely, they’re just watching. I can’t dance like him, that’s for sure.
- Some people go to college. For me I studied music my whole life. That was my college.
- I’m always most comfortable when I’m in here singing or here playing or when the band’s playing…
- I really try to wake up with my music the same as I do with my life, and that is with no expectations. I just feel what I feel that day and follow it.
- “I can do better. It’s all inside of me; I just got to find it.” (On his need for perfection)
- While other kids played with cars and toys, I listened to music all day. I wanted to sing it and learn it.
