Raymond Peter O’Keefe, Jr Wiki Biography

Born as Raymond Peter O’Keefe, Jr. on the 24th April 1955, in Mount Vernon, New York State USA, and is a film and television actor, perhaps best known to the world as Danny Noonan in the film “Caddyshack” (1980), and as Barry Grissom in the film “Michael Clayton” in 2007, among other differing appearances. His career started in the mid- 1970s.

Have you ever wondered how rich Michael O’Keefe is, as of mid- 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that O’Keefe’s net worth is as high as $2 million, an amount earned through his successful career in the entertainment industry, during which he has appeared in more than 100 film and TV titles.

Michael is the oldest of seven children born to Raymond Peter O’Keefe, and his wife Stephanie; he is of Irish ancestry, and both of his parents were devout Roman Catholics. Although born in Mount Vernon, Michael grew up in Larchmont, New York, where he went to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and later New York University.

His career started in 1970 when he was selected for a Colgate commercial, and he then joined Joseph Papp’s Public Theater in New York City. Michael made his on-screen debut in a minor role in the TV series “The Texas Wheelers” in 1974, and throughout the ‘70s he made several minor TV appearances, until in 1979 when he was cast as basketball player Ben Meechum in the drama “The Great Santini” (1979), next to Robert Duvall and Blythe Danner, which earned him an Oscar Award nomination, and increased his popularity and net worth.

In 1980 he featured as a golf player in the comedy “Caddyshack”, while in 1982 he portrayed gymnast Danny ‘Joshua’ Stetson in the romantic drama “Split Image”, with Karen Allen and Peter Fonda. As the ‘80s progressed so did his career, since Michael made several more notable appearances, including in the action adventure “Savage Islands” (1983), “The Slugger’s Wife” (1985), and the Oscar Award- nominated drama “Ironweed” (1987), starring Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep and Carroll Baker. Also, in 1989 he starred in the made-for-television romantic drama “Bridge to Silence”, which earned a Primetime Emmy Award- nomination.

Looking forward to the next decade, Michael built on the success from the ‘80s, and cemented his place in the Hollywood scene. New roles came quickly, some of which increased his wealth to a large degree. In 1994 he featured in the romantic comedy “Nina Takes a Lover”, and then two years later he had the role in the Oscar Award- nominated drama “Ghosts of Mississippi”, directed by Rob Reiner and starring Alec Baldwin, James Woods and Whoopi Goldberg.

He started the new century with a role in the mystery thriller “The Glass House” (2001), and the next year appeared in the comedy “The Hot Chick”, starring Rob Schneider. In the next several years, Michael didn’t have any notable roles, until he was cast in the biopic about a young girl who was tortured by her mother and siblings – “An American Crime” in 2007, starring Ellen Page, Hayley McFarland, and Catherine Keener. The same year he appeared next to George Clooney, as Barry Grissom in the thriller “Michael Clayton”, and also portrayed detective Griffin in the thriller “Cherry Crush”.

He quickly moved on to the next successful project, as in 2008 he appeared in the crime drama “Frozen River” (2008), starring Melissa Leo, Misty Upham, and Charlie McDermott, but then had to wait until 2012, when he starred in the thriller “A Thousand Cuts”, and also starred in Tony Glazer’s directorial debut, the thriller “Hostage”, which increased his net worth to a large degree.

In recent years, Michael has been chasing television roles and so far has appeared in such series as “Homeland” (2014), “Masters of Sex” (2015-2016), and in “Sneaky Pete” (2017), all of which also added to his wealth.

Regarding his personal life, Michael has been married to Emily Donahoe since 2011, with whom he has one child. Previously, he was married to musician Bonnie Raitt from 1991 until 2000, and for whom Michael wrote several songs, including “Longing in Their Hearts” for which Bonnie received a Grammy Award.
