Randall Craig “Tex” Cobb Wiki Biography

Randall Craig “Tex” Cobb was born on 7 May 1950, in Bridge City, Texas USA, and is a retired professional boxer, best known to compete in the heavyweight division. He gained popularity because he possessed great punching power and one of the toughest chins of all time. All of his endeavors have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Randall Tex Cobb? As of early-2017, sources estimate a net worth that is over $1 million, mostly earned through success in boxing and also acting; he was a full contact kickboxer before entering professional boxing. He’s also acted in films and television series including “Miami Vice”, but all of these achievements have ensured the position of his wealth.

Randall attended Abilene High School and played for the school’s football team. After matriculating, he attended Abilene Christian University, however dropped out when he turned 19 and then started training in karate, living in a dojo while improving his craft. After earning his black belt, he moved to kickboxing since he wanted a full contact sport, and quickly earned popularity, setting an early 9-0 record, all of which were knockouts. He won a technical knockout victory against David Ochoa and it later earned Cobb a professional boxing contract which started to increase his net worth, as he learnt the fundamentals of boxing quickly.

Randall had a bit of difficulty adjusting to professional boxing as evident in his two amateur bout losses. In 1977, he made his professional debut and would earn 13 straight wins, becoming known for his hard hitting style which would continue in building up his net worth. After a few losses, he bounced back to earn a title shot against Larry Holmes in 1982, but he was defeated in a unanimous decision however. Two years later, he made a brief return to kickboxing which resulted in a loss, while his boxing matches were also posing some difficulties, so Cobb decided to take a two year break, and after returning, went on to get a 20 fight undefeated streak before a sudden retirement in 1993.

Randall transitioned to a career in acting, appearing in numerous films such as “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective”, “Liar Liar”, “The Golden Child” and “Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol”. He was known for his villainous roles, but also had a lot of opportunities on television. He made guest appearances in shows such as “Texas Ranger”, “MacGyver”, “The X-Files” and “Highlander: The Series”. Other unusual roles he was seen in include “Uncommon Valor”, “Critical Condition”, and “The Champ” in which he played a boxer who fights the protagonist. One of his most notable roles was in the 1987 film “Raising Arizona”, which was made by the Coen Brothers. All contributed somewhat to his net worth.

In 2008, Randall graduated magna cum laude from Temple University with a degree in sport and recreation management.

For his personal life, it is known that Cobb has married twice, secondly to Sharon Hodge, and has two children from his first marriage, with the eldest killed in an accident in 1999. His younger son tried a career as a boxer but it was short lived. Aside from this, he maintained a friendship with columnist Pete Dexter whom he saved during a bar brawl.

Randall Craig “Tex” Cobb Quotes

  • Hollywood’s a great place to vacation, but I wouldn’t want to live there. The people don’t have a concept of reality. Their reality is how good they pretend.
  • I love acting. It’s easy for me. All you do is look in the camera, smile, and lie with charm. I learned how to do that watching Don King promote fights.
