Have you ever wondered how rich Nonito Donaire is? According to sources it has been estimated that Nonito Donaire’s overall net worth is over $5 million, accumulated through an extremely successful and lucrative boxing career which he started in the early 2000s. Since he is still an active sportsman, his net worth continues to increase.

Nonito was born the third of four children in the family, and spent his childhood days in General Santos City, South Cotabato and went to a local school with the later eight-division world champion, Manny Pacquiao. As a child, he was often bullied due to his small stature. Since his father was an amateur boxer with US citizenship, Nonito joined his father at the age of seven and moved to Van Nuys, Los Angeles, California, and since his brother Glenn had started boxing, Nonito decided to follow his steps when he was eleven years old, although he later stated that he didn’t enjoy it. He attended San Lorenzo High School, California, and during his schooling Nonito and his brother won several amateur boxing championships, including the National Silver Gloves in 1998, National Junior Olympics in 1999 and the National USA Tournament in 2000. He was also the winner of the International Junior Olympics in 1999.

Two years later, Nonito and his brother became professionally involved in boxing, and signed a contract with promoter Jackie Kallen. His first regional title came in September 2002, when he won the WBO Asia Pacific flyweight title, and four years later the NABF super flyweight, his second regional title. His IBF flyweight title came in July 2007, in a match against Vic Darchinyan, and his victory was named as “Knockout of the Year” and “Upset of the Year” by Ring Magazine. In 2008, Nonito signed a contract with Top Rank Boxing, and in November the same year he defended his IBF flyweight title in a match against Moruti Mthalane, adding to his net worth.

The following year he decided to move up to the junior bantamweight/super flyweight division, and challenged and defeated the WBA bantamweight champion Volodymyr Sydorenko in December 2010, and won the WBC and WBO bantamweight titles after defeating Montiel in February 2011. By doing so, he became the second Filipino and third Asian person to become a three-division world champion, and was ranked no.3 in Ring Magazine’s “pound for pound”list.

In March 2015, Donaire returned to the Super Bantamweight division and secured his NABF super bantamweight title.

Apart from his supreme boxing career, Nonito has also appeared on television as a guest on “Celebrity Duels”, and TV series such as “HBO Boxing After Dark” (1996), “Gandang gabi Vice”(2011) and “Knockout”(2014), boosting his net worth further.
