Mardy Fish Wiki Biography

Mardy Simpson Fish is an ex- professional tennis player, born on 9th December 1981 in Edina, Minnesota USA, the winner of six tournaments on the ATP Tour, and a finalist in the 2004 Summer Olympic Games, and four Masters Series events. One of his most notable career achievements was becoming the American No.1 in the ATP rankings in April 2011.

Have you ever wondered how rich Mardy Fish is? According to sources, it has been estimated that Mardy’s overall net worth is $4 million, acquired largely during his 15 year-long professional tennis career, during which he was multiple awarded and reached international fame. Mardy’s commitment and talent gave tennis another notable player, aside from significantly increasing his personal net worth.

As a son of a tennis teaching professional, Fish showed interest in tennis from an early age. When he was only two, a Minneapolis TV station ran a profile on him, portraying his talent. Two years later, he moved with his family to Vero Beach, Florida, where he attended Vero Beach High School before moving to Boca Prep in Boca Raton, Florida where he went to Boca Prep International School along with Jesse Levine and Andy Roddick. As a junior player, Mardy achieved a 58-25 singles win/loss record, thus reaching no.14 in the world in 1999. He spent one year living with Roddick’s family, so during this period he and Andy played on the same tennis and basketball team.

By specializing on hard courts, Fish rose to fame in 2000 when he started his professional career. At first, he played in the Challenger and Futures Circuits – the minor tennis leagues – and two years later earned his first title on the ATP Tour Tennis premier professional circuit, when playing doubles with Andy Roddick in the US Men’s Clay Court Championships. His first notable achievement came in 2003 after winning his first ATP singles title in Cincinnati, and shortly after, Mardy defeated Robin Soderling to win the Stockholm Open in Sweden. The same year, Fish managed to reach world No.20 after his victory over Carlos Moya in the 2003 Australian Open. The following year proved to be equally successful, as he reached the finals at the SAP Open in San Jose and Gerry Weber Open in Germany, and this was also the year when Fish won the silver medal at the Summer Olympics. His net worth was rising steadily.

Since his career took off, Fish has won five tournaments on the main ATP tour and reached the final of three Master Series: Cincinnati in 2003 and 2010 and Indian Wells in 2008. Although 2007 Australian Open, 2008 US Open and 2011 Wimbledon have also witnessed his poor performance, he reached the quarter final stage at several Grand Slam Tournaments. In April 2011, he overtook his compatriot Andy Roddick at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami to acquire the ranking of America’s No. 1.

Due to several past wrist injuries, and anxiety disorder, Fish announced he would retire after the 2015 US Open.

As for Mardy’s personal life, he married a California attorney and model Stacey Gardner in September 2008, and the couple has a son.
