Melanie Jayne Chisholm Wiki Biography
Melanie Jayne Chisholm was born on the 12th January 1974, in Whiston, Knowsley, Merseyside, England, and is a musician, singer, songwriter, probably best recognized for being one of the five members of the highly popular girl band The Spice Girls, consequent to which she is also known as Mel C. She is now a solo artist, releasing seven studio albums such as “Northern Star” (1999), “Beautiful Intentions” (2005), and “Version Of Me” (2016), etc. Her career began in 1994.
So, have you ever wondered how rich Melanie Chisholm is, as of early 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that the total size of Melanie’s net worth is over $33 million, accumulated through her successful career in the music industry.
Melanie Chisholm spent one part of her childhood in her hometown, until her family moved to Widnes, Cheshire. She went to Fairfeld High School, and parallel with her education there, she also attended drama, dance, singing and musical theatre at the Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts in Sidcup, Southeast London. While there, she replied to an ad in “The Stage” magazine by Bob and Chris Herbert, who were looking for talented girls to form a girl band. Soon, she left college, and continued education at the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, where she studied modern theatre dance.
Melanie’s professional musical career began in 1994, when she became a member of the Spice Girls, alongside Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell, and Emma Bunton. The following year, they signed a contract with Virgin record label, and in 1996 released their debut studio album “Spice”, which achieved enormous worldwide success, as it peaked at No. 1 in more than 15 countries, and achieved multi-platinum certification in 25 countries. The album sold 30 million copies, becoming one of the most successful albums of all time and the biggest-selling album in music history by a girl band. Hit singles from the album such as “Wannabe”, “2 Become 1”, and “Mama” reached No. 1 on the UK chart, which added a considerable amount to Mel’s net worth.
The band released their second album entitled “Spiceworld” in 1997, which consisted of hit singles “Too Much” and “Spice Up Your Life”, both of which peaked at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart. Subsequently, they appeared in their own musical comedy film – “Spiceworld: The Movie” – in the same year, which also increased Melanie’s net worth. Three years later, they released their third album, “Forever”, which sold more than four million copies worldwide. However, despite the band’s success, after that they decided to disband.
Melanie now focused on her solo career, recording the duet “When You’re Gone” with Bryan Adams, which peaked at No. 1 in the UK. Her debut solo album entitled “Northern Star” was released via Virgin Records in 1999, and it achieved triple platinum status in the UK, with the single “Never Be The Same” achieving No. 1 on the UK charts, increasing further her net worth.
Her first album in the new millennium was “Reason” (2003), but it didn’t achieve any major success, so she left Virgin Records and established her own record label called Red Girls Records. Through it, she released her third album entitled “Beautiful Intentions” (2005), achieving gold certifications in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, and the hit single “First Day Of My Life” became one of the best-selling singles in that year. By the next decade, she released one more album “This Time” in 2007, which contributed a lot to her net worth. In that year, the Spice Girl reunited to go on international tour called “The Return Of The Spice Girls”, which won the Billboard Touring Award in 2008.
To speak further about her musical career, during the 2010s, Melanie released “The Sea” in 2011 and “Stages” in the following year. Most recently out came her album “Version Of Me” in 2016. Her net worth is certainly still rising.
Regarding her personal life, Melanie Chisholm has been dated by several famous musicians, such as Robbie Williams in 1997, and Anthony Kiedis in 1998. She was in a relationship with Thomas Starr, a property developer, for 10 years (2002-2012) and they have a daughter, but she is apparently still single and living in her current residence in Catbrook, Monmouthshire, Wales.

Melanie Jayne Chisholm Quotes
- My five-year-old daughter loves Rihanna. But she has no idea what her idol looks like because there’s little footage that I’m happy for her to see. It’s a shame that a talented, successful woman expresses herself in such an overtly sexual way.

- [on Freddie Mercury] He could just hold the audience in the palm of his hand. He moved with such grace and vocally he never missed a note. His talent and his personality shone through so much, he was never gonna not be cool.
