Mark Borchardt Wiki Biography

Mark Borchardt is an independent filmmaker and actor, born on 20th August 1966 in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, USA. He is best known to public for being the subject of the 1999 documentary “American Movie: The Making of Northwestern”, which depicts three years of his effort in shooting and editing the horror film “Coven” (1997).

Have you ever wondered how rich Mark Borchardt is? According to sources it has been estimated that Mark Borchardt’s net worth is $500 000, as of July 2017, acquired by making a name for himself as an amateur director and a television personality, often seen as a guest on popular TV shows. Since he is still active in the entertainment industry, his net worth continues to increase.

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mark is of Swedish descent from his maternal side. His interest in filmmaking began when he was fourteen, after buying a super-8 camera at a garage sale from a neighbor. His filming ventures were interrupted for a while when he decided to join the military in which he spent three years there. However, upon returning, Borchardt continued to pursue his interest in film at a local university, and later started producing and writing Halloween radio dramas, which won him a fellowship from the Milwaukee Art Futures Board.

Mark actually became famous after filmmakers Sarah Price and Chris Smith decided to film Borchardt’s attempts to raise funds for his unfinished film “Northwestern”. However, after the whole project went down the drain, Mark decided to finish “Coven”, another film he had started years before. When it was finally completed, Price and Smith assembled their footage into “American Movie”, which was then signed by Sony Classics, and entered the 1999 Sundance Film Festival where it won the Grand Jury Prize. This launched Borchardt among the popular faces of television and film, and he has since made numerous appearances in shows such as “Late Show with David Letterman”, for whom he served as his election correspondent in 2000. His net worth was now established.

Other shows in which he has appeared include “The Show with No Name”, “Family Guy”, “Mark and Mike”, as well as hosting the national TV special “Night of the Living Dead: LIVE from Wisconsin” with Mike Schank. Apart from shows, Mark has also made several appearances in movies including “The One”(2001), “Abby Singer & The Godfather of Green Bay”(2005), “The Tunnel”(2001), “Modus Operandi”(2009) and “Hamlet A.D.D”(2014) among others. Borchardt had a leading role in horror feature “The Hagstone Demon”(2011) and appeared in the music video for “Zombie Killer”, a song by Leslie and the Ly.

One of Mark’s most demanding ventures has been the movie “Scare Me”, which he started directing in 2004. Four years later it was announced the film would be released in 2009, however, in 2010 it was still in production. Borchardt stated that 65% of the movie had been shot by April 2012 and that he was still waiting for the revision and adaption of the rest of the script. According to IMDb page, “Scare Me” was set for release in 2014.

Apart from filmmaking, Mark is also one of three people who host “Cinema Fireside” film discussion show on a radio station in Milwaukee.

When it comes to his private life, Borchardt was married to Susan McGee from June 1988 to June 1995, with whom he has a child. His current marital status is presumed to be single.
