Mark Anthony Martin Wiki Biography

Mark Anthony Martin was born on the 9th January 1959, in Batesville, Arkansas USA, and is a former stock car racing driver, and one of NASCAR’s most decorated drivers. His driving career was active between 1977 and 2014.

Have you ever wondered how much wealth this famous driver has acquired so far? How rich Mark Martin is? According to sources, it is estimated that Mark Martin’s overall net worth as of early 2016 is $70 million including assets such as car dealerships. It has been accumulated through his 37 year-long racing career, mostly in NASCAR’s elite series.

Mark was born to Jackie and Julian Martin, a truck driver and founder of Julian Martin Inc. trucking company and also a sponsor of the local race team, from whom Mark inherited the passion for racing. Mark began his career at the age of 15, on a small dirt track driving a car that his father built for him. His successful debut was rewarded by winning the Arkansas State Championship in 1974.

After matriculating from Batesville High School, Mark moved to Springfield, Missouri and joined the American Speed Association (ASA) competition in 1977, where he earned ASA Rookie of the Year award. Afterwards, Mark won the ASA championship series three years in a row, from 1978 to 1980. Early success provided the basis for Mark’s, later impressive, net worth.

In 1981, Mark debuted in the elite NASCAR Winston Cup series. However, after moderate success but failed sponsorship, unable to fund his own team, Mark was compelled to sell it and take a step back, and he returned to ASA. After winning the ASA series championship again, in 1986 Mark continued his career in the Busch Series. Despite the fact that he didn’t win that championship, his racing talent caught the eye of the owner of Roush Fenway Racing – Jack Roush, and Mark came back to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. This subsequent 19 year-long cooperation led Martin to record 35 victories in the NASCAR Nextel Cup division (formerly Winston Cup) , 230 top-five finishes, 560 top-10s and four No.2 positions in Sprint Cup series (1990, 1994, 1998 and 2002). These accomplishments, apart from bringing him glory and fame, also added a significant sum to his overall net worth.

Alongside mentioned, Mark Martin left a huge impact on the Nationwide Series too. Although he competed for just one season, he still holds the most wins (48) and most pole positions (30) records. In 2006, motorsports media named Mark Martin as the greatest Nationwide Series driver of all-time.

In 2014, Mark announced his retirement from driving, but stayed in racing as a driver development coach and mentor. In his thrilling career, Mark Martin earned, besides glory and humongous net worth, some prestigious rewards and honors, including NASCAR Illustrated Person of the Year Award in 2002, 2005 and 2009, NASCAR’s 50 Greatest Drivers in 1998, and Motorsport Hall of Fame of America inductee in 2015.

Apart from successful racing career, Mark Martin has also made some efforts towards business – he owns four car dealerships, under the label Mark Martin Automotive, including Mark Martin Powersports, Mark Martin Ford and personal museum in Batesville and Mark Martin Chevrolet in Melbourne, Arkansas. These ventures are certainly increasing his overall net worth.

When it comes to his personal life, he has been acknowledged as a healthy lifestyle advocate and spends plenty of time on his fitness routine. Mark Martin is married to Arlene, and the couple currently resides in his hometown of Batesville with five children, their son and four kids from Arlene’s previous marriage.

Mark is not only a great driver, but also a licensed pilot, and a huge fan of rap music.
