Marc Anthony Wiki Biography
Marco Antonio Muñiz was born on 16 September 1968, in New York City, USA to Puerto Rican parents, and as Marc Anthony, is known as an actor, singer, songwriter, as well as a record and television producer, perhaps best recognised for singing Latin salsa and ballads during a varied career begun in 1988.
How rich is Marc Anthony? According to sources, Marc’s net worth is estimated to be $40 million, most of his wealth having been accumulated through his musical career now spanning over 25 years.
Anthony began his career by working as a session vocalist for Underground New York house artists. He then changed his name to Marc Anthony in order to avoid confusion with another Mexican singer Marco Antonio Muñiz, and worked as a backing vocalist for a Puerto Rican boy band “Menudo”, and “Latin Rascals”. In 1988, Anthony released his first freestyle music record entitled “Rebel” and that same year went on to produce “Boy I’ve Been Told” for freestyle artist Sa-Fire. Marc continued working as a back-up singer and provided vocals for a variety of artists, until in 1992 he completely changed his style from freestyle to salsa, a feature he is now known for to a wide audience. Reluctant to change his style at first, Anthony gave in to the then president of RMM Records, Ralph Mercado, and released a debut album entitled “Otra Nota” in 1993. The album was followed up by his second studio work “Todo a su Tiempo” that won him a Billboard award for Hot Tropical Artist of the Year, as well as a nomination for a Grammy for several of the songs. Already a successful act in the Spanish-speaking community, Anthony then recorded a song with Jennifer Lopez that appeared on her album “On the 6”, and in 1999 released his first English-language self-titled album, that brought him even more national recognition, and added considerably to his net worth.
Throughout his career, Marc Anthony has released a total of 13 solo albums. His most recent album entitled “3.0” was released in 2013. Anthony has collected large sums from these sales, and in 2013 even boasted that he was earning an impressive $1.25 million a month.
Marc Anthony also significantly increased his net worth by making appearances in various movies, such as Martin Scorsese’s “Bringing Out the Dead”, “In Time of the Butterflies” with Salma Hayek, and “Man on Fire” alongside Denzel Washington.
Anthony has ventured into business as well, and bought small stakes of the Miami Dolphins football team with his then wife Jennifer Lopez. Some of the celebrities who also have small stakes in the club are Fergie, Venus and Serena Williams, as well as Gloria.
In his personal life, Marc Anthony was in a relationship with Debbie Rosado in the early 1990s, and has a daughter with her. Marc then married Dayanara Torres in 2000, and the couple had two sons before finally divorcing in 2004. Marc and Jennifer Lopez were married later that year, and had two children in 2008, for the first photos of whom “People” magazine paid the remarkable sum of $6 million. However, in 2011 Anthony and Lopez announced their separation, and in 2012 Anthony filed for divorce.
A successful artist with an estimated net worth of $40 million, Marc Anthony has won three Latin Grammy Awards, two Grammy Awards, received a 2009 CHCI Chair’s Lifetime Achievement Award and a number of Billboard Latin Music Awards.
