Danny Glover Wiki Biography

Daniel Lebern Glover was born on the 22nd July 1946, in San Francisco, California USA, and is a popular actor, director of films as well as a political activist. All the above mentioned are sources of Danny Glover’s net worth. He is the winner of three CableACE Award, five NAACP Image Awards, an Independent Spirit Award and MTV Movie Award. For his lifetime achievements, Danny has been honoured in the Jamerican International, Karlovy Vary International, San Francisco International and Los Angeles Pan African Film Festivals. Glover has been active in the industry since 1979.

So just how rich is Danny Glover? As of mid-2017, Danny has accumulated a net worth estimated at over $50 million, mostly from his career in the film industry which began in the late 1970s.

Glover comes from a working family, which was active in advocating for equal rights and in the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People. Danny was educated at George Washington High School and San Francisco State University. He suffered from epilepsy though he managed to cope with the attacks and hasn‘t had any from 1980.

To begin with, Danny worked on community development in the administration of the city, until he decided to quit with the view of pursuing a career in acting. He debuted with the role of an inmate in the thriller film “Escape from Alcatraz“ (1979) directed by Don Siegel, and in his career since then, Glover has created more than 100 roles in feature films and about 20 roles in television films, plus countless roles in various episodes of television series. Among his most significant roles was the homicide detective Roger Murtaugh in the films released under the franchise “Lethal Weapon” (1987, 1989, 1992 and 1998) – all the films together reported box office takings of almost $1 billion. Other important roles were Mr. Albert Johnson in Steven Spielberg’s film “The Colour Purple” (1985) , which grossed $142 million at the box office; cowboy Mal Johnson in “Silverado” (1985) directed, produced and written by Lawrence Kasdan; Michael Harrigan in “Predator 2” (1990) directed by Stephen Hopkins; Detective David Tapp in “Saw” (2004) directed by James Wan; Colonel Isaac Johnson in “Shooter” (2007) directed by Antoine Fuqua and many other roles which have all added revenue to Glover’s net worth. Currently, the actor is working on the upcoming films “Monster Trucks”, “Scout”, “Gridlocked” and “Proud Mary’”, the latter about a female ‘hit-woman’ scheduled for a 2018 release.

Having a look at Glover’s career on television, at least those roles which were nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards should be noted: as an outstanding lead actor, Glover was nominated for his role in television film “Mandela” (1987), an outstanding supporting actor nomination he received for his role in the miniseries “Lonesome Dove” (1989), and for the role of Will Walker in the television film “Freedom Song” (2000) as well as an outstanding guest actor nomination – for his role in “Fallen Angels” (1995). Most recently he appeared in “Tour de Pharmacy” in 2017, a mockumentary based on doping in the Tour de France cycle race.

Concerning his private life, Glover has been married twice. In 1975, he married Asake Bomani with whom he lived until 1999. In 2009, he married Eliane Cavalleiro. He has fathered one child. He currently lives in San Francisco.

Danny Glover is involved in a number of political and charity organizations and acts, particularly for black-skinned peoples and minorities rights, both in the US and internationally – he even has a Nigerian chieftancy title.
