Linda Purl was born on the 2nd September 1955 in Greenwich, Connecticut USA, and is an actress and singer best known to the world as Charlene Matlock in the TV crime investigation series “Matlock” (1986-1987), among many other differing appearances. Her career started in 1966, becoming a child actress appearing in plays “The King and I” and “Oliver!”.

In 1986 she was selected for the role of Charlene Matlock, daughter of criminal defense attorney Ben Matlock, star of the series portrayed by Andy Griffith.
