Larry Sanders grew up in his hometown with two older sisters, and where he attended a private elementary school. Afterwards, he continued his education at Port St. Lucie High School, for which he started playing basketball. Right at the beginning he was spotted by his coach Kareem Rodriguez, who immediately knew that Sanders would become a professional player one day. Thanks to him the high school team participated at the District 13-5A Championship, and he was named to first team all-state. He then continued his basketball career at the Commonwealth University of Virginia. During his studies, Sanders was named to the Colonial Athletic Association All-Freshman Team, however, he left VCU after his first year, and entered the 2010 NBA Draft.
His professional career began when he signed a rookie contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, as the team selected him from the 15th position overall. However, his career didn`t start as he hoped for, since he was sent to the NBA D-League for a few games, but after a week, the Bucks returned him into the rooster, and he soon began to show how dominant he could be on the basketball court. Larry recorded his first triple double in his rookie season, with 10 points, 12 rebounds and 10 blocks. He finished his season as the second blocker of the league, behind Serge Ibaka. In 2013, Sanders signed a contract with Bucks in worth of $44 million, which increased his net worth to a large degree.
However, in December same year, Larry suffered a ligament tear in his right thumb, and missed 25 games. He returned to practice and on the court, but a fractured orbital bone happened in March 2014, which kept him sidelined throughout the rest of the season.
Since then, his career took a spiral way down, as he later twice tested positive for marijuana use, and was eventually suspended for ten games, starting January 16th 2015. After such events, the Bucks decided to buy out Larry`s contract, and a few days after, Larry posted a video of himself, stating that he had entered a program at Rogers Memorial Hospital for depression, anxiety and mood disorders, and would return to basketball only if fully fit and able.
