Lady Saw Wiki Biography

Born as Marion Hall on the 12th July 1972 in Galina, Saint Mary, Jamaica, she is a singer-songwriter, best known to the world by her stage name Lady Saw. Her career began in the late ‘80s, and so far she has released nine studio albums, including “Lover Girl” (1994), “Passion” (1997), “Strip Tease” (2004), and “Alter Ego” (2014), among others.

Have you ever wondered how rich Lady Saw is, as of late 2016? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that her net worth is as high as $500,000, an amount earned through her career in the music industry.

During her childhood, Lady Saw went to Galina Primary School, and in her teens she found her first job sewing at The Free Zone. When she turned fifteen, she joined local sound systems, a part of Jamaican popular culture, consisting of numerous deejays, MCs, and reggae musicians. After a short time she joined the Stereo One system in Kingston.

Starting in 1987 she embraced the name Lady Saw, and her performance was soon noticed by producers. Her next step was her first single “Love Me or Lef Me”, which became quite popular in Jamaica. Moving forward with the single “If Him Lef”, more popular than her first release, the third was the charm, the single “Find a Good Man” topping the Jamaican charts. Encouraged by the success of her singles, Lady Saw went into the studio and recorded her debut full-length album entitled “Lover Girl”, which came out in August 1994 and spawned a hit single “Stab Up De Meat”. By the end of the decade, she had recorded three more albums – “Give Me The Reason” (1996), “Passion” (1997), and “99 Ways” (1998), with which she proved herself worthy as a musician, since she won a Grammy Award for the song “Underneath It All”, which is a duet with the pop-rock group No Doubt. Going into the 2000s, Lady Saw wasn`t quite so active in the studio, as she had other plans for her career, but in 2004 released her fifth album, entitled “Strip Tease”, which was quite successful as it spawned such hits as I’ve Got Your Man”, “Man is the Least”, “Loser” and “Move Your Body”, and reached No. 14 on the US Reggae chart. Her net worth was rising.

She continued successfully into the mid- and late-‘00s with albums “Walk Out” (2007), which reached No. 8 on the US Reggae, and “My Way” (2010), the sales of which increased her net worth too. Her next album came out in 2014, entitled “Alter Ego”, which reached No. 6 on the US Reggae charts. After this release, Lady Saw decided to convert to Christianity and change her music genre, focusing on gospel music, and also changed her stage name; she is now known as Minister Marion Hall or just Marion Hall. Most recently, she released her first gospel album, entitled “When God Speaks”.

She is also a producer; in 2010, she started her own record label – Divas Records – to which she has signed several young talents. This has also increased her net worth.

Regarding her personal life, she is a mother of three adoptive children, and is in a relationship with a man named John John, but further details about their status are unknown.

Lady Saw is a well-known philanthropist; in 2014 she started the The Lady Saw Foundation that focuses on helping abused and other women in need.
