Nathaniel Thomas Wilson was born on July 20,1968 in Corona Queens, New York City, USA to African-American parents. He is much better known to many rap and music fans as Kool G Rap, but has also occasionally used other names like Kool Genius of Rap, and simply G Rap. He achieved prominence in rap when he teamed with DJ Polo to form Kool G Rap & DJ Polo. He is also well-known for his collaborations, and as a semi- member of the Juice Crew. He is known as one of the pioneers of the mature and edgy content that is now common in rap. He is also known as one of the most talented MCs of all time and has often been cited as the inspiration behind many of hip-hop’s most prominent figures, including the Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, and Eminem. He is a well-known rapper, songwriter, author, and actor.

With all his hits and projects through the years, just how rich is Kool G Rap? He currently has a net worth estimated by sources at over $1.5 million.

Wilson grew up in Corona Queens, where life was not easy as poverty and crime were common problems for most young African-Americans growing up at the time. He grew up in the same neighborhood as Eric B. who would also later rise to prominence as a legendary rap producer. It was through Eric B. that Wilson met DJ Polo, who was also looking for an MC to work with. Their mutual goals and dreams led to the formation of Kool G Rap and DJ Polo. They were so passionate that they made and recorded their first single, It’s a Demo, in a single night. The single was a mild success and it led to them working with the Juice Crew. They appeared on three of the Juice Crew’s albums that were released in the 80s which are all considered classics in the genre. Wanted Dead or Alive, and Live and Let Die, are significant examples and are still revered to this day. These ventures contributed to establishing his net worth.

Wilson started his solo career with the release of his album 4,5,6. This has been his most commercially successful album to date as it reached No. 24 on the US Billboard 200 album charts. It was followed by Roots of Evil in 1998. His next album, The Giancana Story, was set for a 2000 release date, but several complications in the studio pushed it’s release to 2002. In later years, Wilson would branch out to other pursuits; he would occasionally write movie scripts and even tried unsuccessfully to release a line of clothing. Still, his net worth was growing.

Regardless of future trends, Wilson’s legacy in the world of rap and hip hop is more than secure. He is considered as the forerunner of many of hip hop’s past and present stars from Jay-Z to Fat Joe and Treach. Eminem and many other rap stars admit that his music was a big influence for their current work.

In his personal life, Kool G Rap briefly dated Karrine Steffans “Superhead”and the two of them have a son together, Naim Wilson.
