Kenny Wayne Shepherd Wiki Biography
Kenny Wayne Brobst, or more famously known as Kenny Wayne Shepherd, was born on the 12 June 1977, and is an American songwriter, singer, and guitarist who became famous for his blues and jazz music that became chart-topping hits.
So how much is Shepherd’s net worth? As of late 2016, based on authoritative sources, it is reported to be $10 million acquired from his years in the music industry, the sales of his albums, world tours and various television appearances, during a career which now spanning 25 years.
Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, Shepherd fell in love with music at a very young age. One of his biggest influences was his father, Ken Shepherd, who was a local radio host, and has a wide music collection which he was able to tinker on as a kid. He started playing guitar at age three years old when his grandmother gave him a guitar toy, and took it more seriously when he met Stevie Ray Vaughn at one of his father’s gigs.
While at Caddo Magnet High School, Shepherd also started taking music more seriously. He studied his father’s music collection, and started writing music and recording demos for himself. At the age of 16, Giant Records saw his video performing at the Red River Revel Art Festival and signed him to a recording contract.
In 1995, Shepherd released his first album “Ledbetter Heights” that became an immediate success and even reached Platinum sales status. His hits “Born with a Broken Heart” and “Deja Voodoo” were well-received by his fans, and became chart-toppers in the United States. His debut album not only hurled him to success, but also tremendously increased his net worth.
After three years, he released his second album “Trouble Is…” and didn’t disappoint, as it also went Platinum and its hit songs “True Lies” and “Blue on Black” also topped the charts. He went on to release several more albums including 1999’s “Live on”, 2004’s “The Place You’re In”, 2007’s “10 Days Out: Blues from the Backroads” and 2010’s live album “Live! In Chicago” that ultimately cemented Shepherd as one of the best blues musician in his generation. The sales of his albums also helped raise his net worth, not to mention the constant touring around the globe to promote them.
Shepherd also performed on television, promoting his music to a larger audience. Some of the shows he appeared in have included “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”, “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “The Late Show with David Letterman”. He was also consistently featured in various magazines like Vanity Fair, Blender, Spin and Rolling Stone. His various appearances on television and in magazines also helped his wealth creation.
In 2013, Shepherd teamed up with fellow musicians Barry Goldberg and Stephen Stills and created a band called The Rides. The trio released an album in 2013 entitled “Can’t Get Enough”.
Today, Shepherd is still active in the music industry, still working with his band The Rides, and recently became part of the judging panel of the 14th Annual Independent Music Awards.
In terms of his personal life, Shepherd has been married to Hannah Gibson – daughter of actor Mel Gibson – since 2006, and together they have three children.
