Simon Kirke Wiki Biography

Born Simon Frederick St. George Kirke on the 28th July 1949, in Lambeth, London England, Simon is a musician, singer, songwriter and drummer, best known to the world for being the founding member of the hard rock supergroup Bad Company, with which he released 12 studio albums and four compilation albums, several of which went platinum.

Have you ever wondered how rich Simon Kirke is, as of mid- 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Kirke’s net worth is as high as $1 million, earned through his successful career as a musician, which has been active since the late ‘60s.

Simon was born to Vivian Percy Kirke and Olive May. Though born in Lambert, South London, he lived throughout his childhood in the countryside of Wales. He left high school before matriculation when he was17 years old, and soon started seeking drumming jobs in the flourishing blues scene. However, his career beginnings weren’t quite successful, so after almost two years without an engagement he decided to head back home. However, just before his trip, Simon met Paul Kossoff who was a part of the band Black Cat Bones, which was in need of a drummer, and Simon joined them. For the next six months, he and Paul played together before leaving the group to start their own. Teaming up with Paul Rogers and Andy Fraser, they formed the rock band Free, which existed until 1973, releasing six studio albums, including “Tons of Sobs” (1969), “Free” (1969), “Free at Last” (1972), and “Heartbreaker” (1973). Some of their most successful hits were “All Right Now”, which celebrated the band, then “My Brother Jake”, and “Wishing Well”, among others, establishing Simon’s net worth.

In the last years of existence, Free experienced several internal arguments, which led to disbandment in 1972, but Simon and Rogers continued to work together by forming the band Bad Company, joined by Mick Ralphs and Boz Burrel. The band existed until 1982 in its first stint, and they released their self-titled debut album in 1974, which achieved multiple platinum status in the US, topping the US Billboard 200 chart, which increased Simon’s net worth to a large degree, and encouraged the band to continue to work together. Their second album came out the next year – “Straight Shooter” – and it landed at No. 3 on the US Billboard 200 chart, and achieved triple platinum status in the US. Throughout the ‘70s, Bad Company enjoyed massive success with albums “Run with the Pack” (1976) “Burnin’ Sky” (1977), and “Desolation Angels”. Their next album came out in 1982, and it was their last in their first stint of existence, since singer Paul Rogers stated that he wanted to leave the group and take a break from performing; the group officially disbanded later that year.

However, Simon and Mick Ralphs continued to work together, and four years later reassembled Bad Company, with singer Brian Howe, and added Steve Price on bass, while Greg Dechert played keyboards. Bad Company released four new studio albums – “Fame and Fortune” (1986), “Dangerous Age” (1988), “Holy Water” (1990), which achieved platinum status – and “Here Comes Trouble” (1992). The band lost a number of fans when they hired Howe, due to the style of his singing, bringing more pop-rock sound to the band than Paul Rogers’ hard rock feel, but still managed to make both critically and commercially successful music. Howe left Bad Company in 1994, and the new singer became Robert Hart. Bad Company released two more albums “Company of Strangers” (1995) and “Stories Told & Untold” (1996), before going into recording hiatus until the late ‘90s, when Paul Rogers rejoined Simon to record two singles “Hey Hey”, and “Hammer of Love”. Since then, they have toured on and off with Paul on vocals and Simon as a drummer, while other band members changed frequently.

His net worth contributed from his engagements with Ringo Starr, as he has toured with Ringo Starr’s All Star Band on several different occasions, and has also started his own band called Zeta Vang.

Aside from a career as a band member, Simon has also released three solo albums “Seven Rays of Hope” (2005), “Filling the Void” (2011), and “All Because of You” (2017), the sales of which also added to his wealth.

Regarding his personal life, Simon was married to Lorraine until 2016, with whom he has two daughters and a son. Simon is known for his philanthropic activities, being a board member of the organization that helps teenagers overcome addiction problems, Road Recovery.
