Have you ever wondered how rich Kenny Mayne is, as of early 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Mayne’s net worth is as high as $8 million, earned though his successful career as a sports journalist; his annual salary is said to total $3 million.
Kenny hails from Federal Way, Washington and went to Wenatchee Valley College, where he played as a quarterback for the college American Football team. He received All-American honorable mention. After that he enrolled at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and graduated with a degree in broadcasting. He also played as quarterback for the university’s team, but was a substitute for the future NFL star Randall Cunningham.
After his graduation, Kenny decided to pursue a career in NFL and signed as a free agent for the Seattle Seahawks, however, his career was brief and far from successful. Instead he found a job at the KLVX-TV in Las Vegas, Nevada as a reporter, and then worked seven years for KSTW-TV in Seattle, Washington. Little by little his career progressed and he became weekend sports anchor and weekday news reporter. However, his ambitions became far greater than the local television could offer him, and in 1989 he left the station.
In 1994 he was hired by the ESPN, in the beginning serving as the anchor for SportSmash on ESPN2, and soon started working as an anchor for the weekend showcase of the RPM 2Night, holding that positon from 1995 until 1997. After that, Kenny started working as co-anchor of the 11PM SPortsCenter, alongside Dan Patrick. Just two years later, he left the show and began working on various late night shows, including the game show “2 Minute Drill”. Little by little Kenny’s role on ESPN increased, and from 2011 until 2013 he was the host of the show “Kenny Mayne’s Wider World of Sports”, in which Kenny travels around the world and participates in numerous sporting events, such as the King’s Cup Elephant Polo Tournament, Palio de Siena horse race, and canal jumping among many others. The success of the show only increased Kenny’s net worth. Starting in 2013, he returned to SportsCenter, which also improved his wealth.
Apart from his work on television as a host, Kenny has also featured in the reality show “Dancing with the Stars” in 2006, but was first to be eliminated with his partner Andrea Hale. Also, he participated in a commercial for Progressive auto insurance and Top Flite golf balls, which also increased his net worth.
Kenny has tried himself as an author too, and in 2008 published his first book entitled “An Incomplete And Inaccurate History Of Sport”, the sales of which also added to his net worth.
Regarding his personal life, Kenny has been married to Laura Waggoner since 1995; the couple has three children. Previously, he was married to Darcelle Black.
