Cris is of Filipino and Portuguese ancestry, and spent his childhood on US Air Force bases in the Philipines and Hawaii, before moving to Niceville, Florida when it was time for him to enroll at Niceville High School. During his high school years, Cris was praised as an athlete and golfer, recording a golf handicap of four, and also was interested in surfing. Following his matriculation, Cris thought of becoming a professional golfer, however, he decided to go to college, and enrolled at Okaloosa-Walton Community College, and where he became interested in dancing. He landed his first job at Disney World, alongside his friend Wayne Brady. Little by little, Cris moved forward as a dancer, and in 1995 got a chance to dance next to Michael Jackson at the 1995 MTV Video Music Awards. He received positive critiques, which resulted in Michael taking Cris on his HIstory Tour.

Cris was initially a back-up dancer, but soon became the lead dancer for the tour. Four years later, he danced with Celine Dion at the Billboard Music Awards, and then in 2000 he was teamed up with Enrique Iglesias, and Brian McKnight at the 2000 American Music Awards. He then started working with Jennifer Lopez on her music videos, firstly “Love Don’t Cost a Thing”, then “I’m Real”, and “I’m Gonna Be Alright”, while he also worked as producer of her interactive dance DVD, which came out in 2005. During this time, he was also creative director for Handprint Entertainment, through which he worked on Lopez’ concert special “Let’s Get Loud (DVD). All of this added significantly to his net worth.

Aside from J Lo, Cris also worked with Usher, the Brian Setzer Orchestra, then Ja Rule and Julio Iglesias, among other artists, which also added to his net worth.

Cris is also an accomplished actor, having appeared in the comedy film “Goyband” in 2008 as Elliot, and will feature as Calvin White in the drama film “Sex.Sound.Silence”, which is currently in post-production and scheduled for release late in 2017. He had several other guest appearances, such as in the TV comedy series “Everybody Loves Raymond” (1999), and “Unfabulous” (2004), all of which added to his wealth.

He also appeared in a number of reality shows, including those that have a competitive element, such as “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” in 2003, and won $200,000 which he donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, but he was also the judge on the show “Your Mama Don’t Dance” (2008).

Regarding his personal life, Cris has been married to Kelly A. Wolfe since 2009. Previously, he was married to Jennifer Lopez from 2001 until 2003.
