Have you ever wondered how rich Keith Van Horn is, as of early 2017? Keith Van Horn grew up in California, where he went to the Diamond Bar High School and played basketball there. Rick Majerus recruited him to join the University of Utah, and Van Horn represented the Utes from 1993 to 1997, becoming one of the greatest basketball players of the university. From 1994 to 1997, Keith was named to the First-team All-WAC, while from 1995 to 1997 he was the WAC Player of the Year. In 1996, Van Horn was selected to the Consensus second-team All-American, and the next year to the Consensus first-team All-American. His jersey number 44 was retired in 1998, and in 2012, Keith was inducted into Utah’s Crimson Club Hall of Fame.

The Philadelphia 76ers selected Van Horn as the second pick overall in the 1997 NBA Draft, but immediately traded him to the New Jersey Nets with Lucious Harris, Michael Cage and Don MacLean in exchange for Tim Thomas, Anthony Parker, Jim Jackson and Eric Montross. His rookie season was excellent; Keith led the Nets in points, 19.7 and 6.5 rebounds per game average, and helped New Jersey to enter the playoffs after a four-year absence. The Chicago Bulls swept them, though, but Van Horn was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

The next season was the best in Van Horn’s career as he averaged 21.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals per game, while in the 2001-02 season, he was an integral part of New Jersey’s path to the NBA Finals, where they were swept by the Los Angeles Lakers. In August 2002, Keith was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers for the center Dikembe Mutombo. He averaged 15.9 points and 7.1 rebounds, but the 76ers traded him to the New York Knicks, where he played only 47 games before being shipped out to the Milwaukee Bucks. In February 2005, Milwaukee traded Van Horn to the Dallas Mavericks for Alan Henderson, Calvin Booth, and cash considerations. Regardless, Keith’s net worth was rising steadily.

Keith took a break after the 2005-06 season to spend time with his family, but was a part of a blockbuster trade between the Mavericks and the New Jersey Nets, which saw Jason Kidd moving to Dallas in exchange for Devin Harris.
