Katie Dominguez Wiki Biography
Tahir Domi was born on 1 November 1969, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, of part-Albanian descent, and is best known as an ex- professional ice hockey player, in the National Hockey League (NHL), as ‘an enforcer’ for several teams – he has more penalty minutes than any other player in the history of the Toronto Maple Leafs, but all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Tie Domi? As of mid-2017, sources estimate a net worth that is at $6 million, mostly earned through a successful career in professional ice hockey, playing with the New York Rangers, Winnipeg Jets, and Toronto Maple Leafs. As he continues his endeavors, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.
Tie played minor hockey for the Belle River Rink Rants, part of the OMHA. Later on, he played in the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League with the Belle River Canadiens, then at the age of 16 he moved up to the Western Junior B Hockey League, playing with the Windsor Bulldogs. He eventually signed to the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and was selected by the Peterborough Petes. He spent his first year playing with the Petes and also joined the Peterborough Roadrunners which is part of the Metro Junior A Hockey League. After playing another full season, he earned the reputation as an enforcer, and would join the 1988 NHL Entry Draft from which he was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Domi became a professional in 1989 and joined the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Newmarket Saints, but also made his NHL debut that year, appearing in two games with the Maple Leafs. However, he was traded to the New York Rangers during the off season and played with them until 1992, when he was traded to the Winnipeg Jets; his net worth was well established.
In 1995, he was traded back to the Toronto Maple Leafs; two years later he set a single season (negative) record of 365 penalty minutes. In 2000, he was fined for having an altercation with a fan. The following year he was suspended for the remainder of the playoffs after knocking defenceman Scott Niedermayer unconscious during the 2001 Eastern Conference Semi-finals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the following year he was traded to the Nashville Predators, but didn’t played a game with them, and actually then returned to Toronto as a free agent, leading to one of his best seasons in 2003. His net worth continued to increase and during his final season, he scored his 100th NHL goal, and also played his 1,000th career NHL game. He had a problem with coach Pat Quinn, then leading the Leafs to buy out his contract. He became a free agent, but after several months without a contract, announced his retirement.
Tie subsequently joined The Sports Network (TSN) as a broadcaster which only lasted a month. He appeared in an episode of the sitcom “Rent-a-Goalie” in 2007, and in 2009 he joined the reality show “Battle of the Blades” competing alongside Christine Hough. He also works as part of the telecommunications company, Comwave.
For his personal life, it is known that Domi was married to Leanne but they divorced in 2006 after a 13-year marriage, pushed through due to accusations by his wife that he committed adultery with Belinda Stronach. They have three children – his son Max Domi now plays in the NHL – and Tie now spends time with girlfriend Heather.
