Jonathan Dwight Jones Wiki Biography

Jonathan Dwight Jones was born on 19 July 1987, in Rochester, New York State, USA, and is a professional mixed martial arts fighter, best known as a part of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He holds the longest active winning streak in the UFC, and is a two time Light Heavyweight Champion. He’s been active in the sport since 2008, and all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Jon Jones? As of late-2017, sources estimate a net worth that is at $10 million, mostly earned through success in MMA. As he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.

Jon attended Union-Endicott High School, and during his time there came to attention as a champion state wrestler. He also played football during this time and earned the nickname “Bones”. After matriculating, he attended Iowa Central Community College, winning a national JUCO championship. He then transferred to Morrisvale State College but dropped out to pursue his MMA career. In 2008, he made his professional debut and SET an undefeated record of 6-0 before signing with UFC.

Jones first fight in UFC was at “UFC 87” against Tomasz Drwal, and he took a unanimous decision victory. The following year, he would fight Stephan Bonnar at “UFC 94” which he won again via unanimous decision. He continued to fight well, however, he was disqualified in a fight with Matt Hammill due to the use of multiple 12-6 elbows which are prohibited by the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts. He then fought Brandon Vera, winning through a strong elbow that broke Vera’s face, before defeating former IFL Light Heavyweight Champion Vladimir Matyushenko. In 2011, he then faced “Ultimate Fighter” winner Ryan Bader and Jones handed Ryan his first professional loss through a guillotine choke. During the same year, he would defeat UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, to become the youngest UFC champion ever.

Jon’s first title defense was against Quinton Jackson at “UFC 135”, which he would win via a rear naked choke submission, and then delivered Lyoto Machida his first submission loss in his career during Jon’s second title defense. After multiple delays, he then fought former teammate Rashad Evans which he would win again via unanimous decision. He then tied Chuck Liddell’s number of title defenses, winning against Vitor Belfort before joining the 17th season of “Ultimate Fighter”. He then defeated Chael Sonnen to tie for most consecutive title defenses with Tito Ortiz. Jon then had one of his toughest fights against Alexander Gustafsson, winning a controversial unanimous decision; both men had to be sent to hospital due to injuries. After another successful defense, he then had a match against Daniel Cormier at “UFC 192” which he won by unanimous decision, becoming the first person to take Cormier down. However, he was stripped of his title in 2015 following a hit and run incident.

Jones was reinstated after six months, and was set to fight at “UFC 200” before it was discovered that he violated the doping policy, leading him to be suspended for one year. He returned in 2017 to recapture the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship against Daniel Cormier, however, it was discovered that he tested positive once again for an anabolic steroid which led the fight to be declared as a no contest.

For his personal life, it is known that Jon is engaged to Jessie, and they have four daughters.
