John Taylor Wiki Biography
Nigel John Taylor was born on the 20th June 1960, in Solihull, Warwickshire, England, and is a musician, a bass guitarist as well as an actor who is most famous for being a co-founder and a former member of the British new wave, synthpop band Duran Duran. Apart from starring in the leading role of 1999 musical comedy “Sugar Town”, he is also widely recognized for releasing a dozen solo studio albums, of which “:Résumé” released in 1999 scored the biggest commercial success, as well as for being a member of Neurotic Outsiders and The Power Station super groups.
Have you ever wondered how much wealth this British rock star has accumulated so far? How rich John Taylor is? According to sources, it is estimated that the total of John Taylor’s net worth, as of mid-2017, exceeds the sum of $30 million, and includes assets such as a British luxurious supercar – Jaguar F-Type, an LA apartment and 15th century manor in South Wraxall, Wiltshire, England. All have been acquired through his career in the music industry, which has been active since 1978.
John was the only child of a working class family, and spent his childhood interested in wargaming and James Bond novels and movies. He attended Our Lady of the Westside Catholic School and later Abbey High School where he discovered his passion for music. He later enrolled at the School of Foundation Studies & Experimental Workshop Birmingham Polytechnic (nowadays known as Birmingham City University). In 1978 John, alongside Nick Rhodes and Stephen Duffy, formed Duran Duran music group, and in 1981, the band released their eponymous debut studio album which provided the basis for John Taylor’s net worth, and marked the beginning of a successful music career.
This was followed with three more studio albums “Rio” (1982), “Seven and the Ragged Tiger” (1983) and “Arena (live)” which was released in 1984, which significantly boosted the group’s popularity but also dramatically increased John’s individual fame – he was included on People Magazine’s “Sexiest People” list, and in top places of various popularity polls. Additionally, in 1985 Duran Duran recorded “A View to a Kill”, a theme song for the eponymous James Bond movie, 14th in the franchise starring Roger Moore in the title role. Later that year, John Taylor released his debut solo album “I Do What I Do (Theme for 91/2 Weeks)”. All these accomplishments helped John Taylor to significantly increase his wealth, and to boost his lavish lifestyle which included apartments in London as well as Paris and owning several cars such as, among others, James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5 “Volante”.
In 1996, John co-founded his own record label B5 records in California, USA, and in 1997 officially parted ways with Duran Duran, releasing his second solo studio album entitled “Feelings Are Good and Other Lies”. This was immediately followed by “Autodidact (EP)” later that year, and commercially the incredibly successful “:Résumé”, which hit the charts in 1999. However, in 2001 Taylor reunited with Duran Duran and in 2004 the group released “Astronaut” studio album. In his music career so far, John Taylor has released twelve studio albums while with Duran Duran he performed on 13 out of their 14 studio albums including the, most recently, “Paper Gods” which hit the charts in 2015. Doubtlessly, all these achievements have helped John Taylor to add a significant sum to his wealth.
Apart from music, Taylor has also put some efforts towards acting – he has added 22 credits to his acting portfolio so far, including movies “The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas” (2000), “A Diva’s Christmas Carol” (2000), and TV series “Strange Frequency”, “That ’80s Show” and “Samantha Who?”. It is certain that all these engagement increased the total revenues of John Taylor.
When it comes to his personal life, John Taylor is living it like a true rock star which he certainly is. In the 1980s he dated several fashion models such as “Bond girl” Janine Andrews, and between 1985 and 1989 John was in a relationship with Renée Toft Simonsen. In 1991, Taylor married English TV personality Amanda De Cadenet with whom he had a daughter before they divorced in 1995. Since 1999, John has been married to fashion designer and Juicy Couture fashion label co-founder, Gela Nash, with whom he resides in Los Angeles, California.

John Taylor Quotes
- When artists today are asked to Twitter their every thought, their every action, to record on video their every breath, their every performance, I believe they’re diluting their creative powers, their creative potency and the durability of their work. And in the long run I believe they’re also diluting the magical power and the magnetic attraction that they can or will ever have over their audience.
- The speed and growth of new technology, which has been so heralded and so much fuss has been made of, has actually served to disguise how little real growth is taking place at the artistic level.
- I hated being a teenager, until I discovered just how powerful the world of popular music was. It helped me find an identity and find myself. Not just the notes and beats, but the icons and the haircuts and the clothes and the liner notes. Music saved me in a way, or at least it gave me a sense of direction of how life could be.
- Yes, all men are created quasi evil.
- Of course we slept with the models in our videos. So did the managers, so did the director. Everybody sleeps with everybody in this game.
