John McDaid Wiki Biography
John McDaid was born on 24 July 1976, in Derry, Northern Ireland UK, to Pauline and John McDaid. He is a songwriter, musician, producer, and recording artist, best known for his work with the Scottish and Northern Irish band Snow Patrol.
A talented artist, how loaded is Johnny McDaid at present? According to sources, McDaid has earned a net worth of over $5 million, as of late 2016. His fortune has been established during his music career which began in the early ‘90s.
McDaid grew up in Derry, where he attended St Bridgid’s Primary School and later St. Columb’s College. He started playing in bands when he was 11 years old, moving to London when 17, where he began to write his own songs.
In 1999 he co-founded the alternative rock band Vega4, becoming its lead vocalist and songwriter. After signing with the indie label Taste Media in 2000, the band released their debut EP “Caterpillar”, followed by the album “Satellites”. However, the album saw limited success, and the band took an unexpected hiatus. In 2006, Vega4 signed with Epic Records in the US and with, Columbia Records in the UK, and released their new single “You and Me”, followed by “Life Is Beautiful” – the latter song dominated the US Contemporary Radio Charts Top 40, and was eventually featured in an episode of the popular television series “Grey’s Anatomy” and “One Tree Hill”, as well as in the films “Sex Drive” and “Streetdance”. Their second album, “You and Others”, came out later that year in the U.K. and the following year in the USA. Meanwhile, the band was featured on Paul Van Dyk’s acclaimed single “Time Of Our Lives”. However, despite the attention Vega4 achieved in the states with “Life is Beautiful”, the band dissolved in 2008, but McDaid’s net worth was certainly well established.
McDaid then focused on his writing skills, collaborating with various artists in the USA, paving his way to recognition. In 2009 he signed with Polar Patrol Publishing, the publishing company of the alternative rock band Snow Patrol, eventually becoming an integral part of its lineup, playing guitar and piano and singing back vocals, as well as writing songs for the band. His popularity was boosted, which also considerably improved his net worth.
McDaid eventually launched his own studio, Fieldwork Music, in North London and has since written and produced material with and for various artists and songwriters, such as Ed Sheeran, Paul Van Dyk, Harry Styles, Example, Kodaline, Rudimental and Rosi Golan, to name a few, as well as for labels such as Sony BMG, Universal Music Group, EMI, Mushroom Records and Capitol Records.
Aside from creating a huge hit with Paul Van Dyk with “Time of Our Lives”, McDaid has also collaborated with Dyk on his other singles, including the number one club chart hit “Home”, which was awarded Best Track at the 2009 Trance Awards. He co-wrote Example’s hit song “Say Nothing”, which peaked at #2 on the UK Official Charts, and his collaborations with Sheeran on his global hit album “X” resulted in the platinum hit single “Photograph”, which won a BMI Pop Award, and another hit song, “Bloodstream”, which was nominated for Best Song Musically and Lyrically at the 2016 Ivor Novello Awards. Collaborating with various artists and being involved in creating a number of hits has enabled McDaid to reach a high level of popularity in the music industry, and has earned him a significant net worth.
McDaid’s compositions have also been featured on television series such as “Pushing Daisies”, “Defying Gravity”, and in films including “Into the Blue” and “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”, as well as in various advertising campaigns.
Speaking about his private life, McDaid had been dating actress Courteney Cox since 2013, and although the couple became engaged the following year, they split in 2016. Sources believe McDaid is single at present.
