Immortal Technique Wiki Biography
Felipe Andres Coronel is a Lima, Peru-born American rapper and recording artist who is better known by his stage name, Immortal Technique. Born on 19 February 1978 to an African Peruvian family, he was raised in Harlem, New York. Noted for focusing his lyrics on controversial social and global issues, Immortal Technique has been active in the field of music since 2000.
A noted rapper and recording artist who has already sold hundreds of thousands of his album copies, how rich is Immortal Technique at the present? As of 2015, he counts his net worth at a decent amount of over $2.5 million; obviously, the main source of his wealth is his musical career. With his hard work, talent and passion for music, Immortal has managed to become a multi-millionaire during the last fifteen years of his involvement in the field of music.
Raised in New York, Immortal was educated at Hunter College High School, and started his career in music while he was attending Baruch College in New York City, which followed a period of incarceration after an altercation while he was studying at Pennsylvania State University. Initially, he used to record his songs and sell them in the streets of New York while also being involved in street rap battles. It was in 2001 that he released his first album entitled “Revolutionary Vol. 1” under no recording label, but became an underground celebrity given his fame made from his rap battles in the streets. For this, he was also noted by a famous magazine, The Source.
In 2004, he was signed by Viper Records which released his first album “Revolutionary Vol. 2”. To date, he has released a total of only three albums, under Viper Records, the third being “The 3rd World”. His singles such as “Industrial Revolution”, “The Point of Not Return”, “Bin Laden Remix”, “Caught In A Hustle”, “The 3rd World”, and many more have been a hit in the market.
Even though he started his career as an underground rapper, Immortal Technique has managed to win the hearts of millions of fans. His attitude and his inclination towards bringing revolutionary voice into his music, has made him a favorite amongst youth. He even released an ostensibly free album entitled “The Martyr” to promote his attitude to life. He was also arrested for physically objecting to the selling of illegal T-shirts.
Other than being a recording artist and a rapper, Immortal has also managed the time to do many charitable works, including building an orphanage in Kabul, Afghanistan from the profits he made from his third album. This way, he has always backed up his voice for revolution in his songs with some notable charity works.
Currently, Immortal Technique has been working on his fourth studio album entitled “The Middle Passage” which is also recorded under the label of Viper Records. He has shown the world how music can speak for the social and political revolution. His life has also been a model on how a person’s talent can take him from the streets to the limelight. Immortal Technique keeps his personal life private, and especially any romantic assignations!
