Born Howard Graham Buffett on the 16th December 1954, in Omaha, Nebraska USA, he is a businessman, politician and philanthropist, but he is perhaps best known as the middle son of the billionaire investor Warren Buffett. His career has been active since the late 1970s.

However, he soon switched to politics and corporate operations; in 1989 he became a County Commissioner of Douglas County, Nebraska, and served in that position until 1992. Also in 1989, he became the Chairman of the Nebraska Ethanol Authority and Development Board, and served until 1991.
In 1991, Howard was appointed as Director of Archer Daniels Midland Company and a year later Corporate Vice-President and Assistant to the Chairman, and served in that position until 1995. After that, Howard was appointed as Director of the Board of Directors of The GSI Group, which further increased his net worth, serving in that position for the next six years, subsequently becoming the Director of ConAgra Foods from 2002 to 2006.
Concurrently, in 1992 he became the director of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc., and President of Buffett Farms, adding a substantial amount to his net worth. In 1993 he was appointed as director of Coca Cola Enterprises, serving in position until 2004, then in 2010 Howard became Director of the Coca-Cola Company, which again increased his net worth by a large margin.

During his career, Howard has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Order of the Aztec Eagle Award, given by the Mexican Government, and also received an honorary doctorate of human letters from Penn State University, and also a PhD from Lincoln College.
