Greyson Michael Chance Wiki Biography
Greyson Michael Chance, born on the 16th of August 1997, is an American singer, pianist and music writer, who became famous in 2010 with a viral video on the internet of his performance of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi”.
So how much is Chance’s net worth? As of mid-2017, based on authoritative sources it is reported to be $2.4 million, acquired from his years as a musician including the sales of his albums and his constant tours around the globe.
Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, Chance is the son of Scott and Lisa Chance – he has two siblings, Alexa and Tanner, who are also musicians. He spent most of his growing years in Edmond, Oklahoma, and started playing piano at age eight and has received piano lessons since then. Although he is now a known singer, he doesn’t have any formal training in singing.
Chance broke into the spotlight in 2010 when a video of him performing at Cheyenne Middle School went viral on the internet – “Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga during a music festival; posted on YouTube, ultimately gaining over 50 million views. Chance’s video was later picked up by various websites and news platform including GossipBoy.ca, reddit.com, Buzzfeed, TVGuide, Yahoo, and The Huffington Post. After a couple of weeks, television host Ellen DeGeneres saw the video and invited Chance to appear on her show on 13 May, during which he received a phone call from Lady Gaga. Weeks later, he came back on the show to be signed by DeGeneres’ recording label, eleveneleven. Aside from his viral performance of the Lady Gaga classic, his own compositions also gained popularity in his Youtube channel namely “Stars” and “Broken Hearts”.
A few months later, in October 2010, Chance released his first single – “Waiting Outside the Lines” – which became an international hit. The following year, his debut album “Hold on ‘Til the Night” followed. The success of his video going viral and his first single helped start his net worth, even at the young age of 14.
The success of Chance’s debut album led him to perform in various parts of the globe. Some of the countries and cities that became part of his tour because of prior interest shown included Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan and Manila.
In 2015, he announced the release of a new EP called “Somewhere Over My Head”, and the following year, he followed it up with the release of the singles “Afterlife”, “Hit & Run”, and “Back on the Wall”. The latest single that he released was entitled “Anything”, all contributing to the increase of his wealth.
In late 2017, he will be releasing a new EP. Today, Greyson cites artists like Christina Aguilera, John Legend, Elton John and John Lennon, and rock band Augustana as influences in his music.
In terms of his personal life, at the age of 19 Chance is still single.
